Just wondering whether anyone's got any recomendations for a decent and fairly cheap recovery service? I don't particularly want anyone to come and try and fix it, and I don't want it towed to the nearest garage, I just want it to be brought home! I did find a site a few months ago which compared quotes and came up with a fairly small company who would do that for about £20 a year, but we didn't get around to it at the time, and I can't remember the name of the site or the company :(

It's for the AX, which is too new for Footman James to be interested, unfortunately, but I'd like something like the cover they offer, ideally. :)

I have used GEM to cover all the family for around £88 - Mike has used them twice, once to fix a knackered voltage regulator on his sidewinder and they arrived very promptly, and secondly when his girlfriends Beetle dropped a conrod on the M56 and they trucked it all the way back from Chester to Rugeley - paid for the subscription alone! Do not seem to have an vehicle age limitation....

Personal RAC cover covers you, not the car - so, yep, any car you happen to be in.

It's also worth remembering when mentioning prices that most of the breakdown companies offer different levels of cover.

Basic RAC roadside per-car cover is £28 - or £61 to take you anywhere in the UK - which says something about the relative costs of taking you just to the nearest garage versus relaying you all the way from Land's End to John o'Groats...

How old is the AX. FJ cover our Berlingo and Xsara with insurance and breakdown cover and there is the 2CVGB discount as well if you are a member.
