Re: What 2CVs are selling for around the world
Worth that for the registration number I think.
I think generally, around the world 2cv prices are similar for a mainstream common or garden special/D*lly disc brake car, obviously in some places like the US and A the cars command a premium compared to over here (I assume you can't just look in the local rag and pick them us easily there) The ones that seem to have no consistent value are older cars from the 50s and 60s. In france you can pick up a ropey one for a few hundred euros, in the UK, people seem to think they're hard to find and rare so they go for a bit more, in America they are silly money even for utter crocks. Thankfully for us here in blighty, it's still easy to get 2cvs for next to nothing, although I do agree now it's harder to get good ones for sod all, and if you only have a couple of hundred quid to spend you're never going to get anything that doesnt need work, but, it's still possible to pick cars up for that.
I like this thread, I think it'd be interesting to pick a model year and try to find a similar car from various other countries for sale, and compare them.
Here goes,
a Standard, restored 1986 2cv from the UK, in good condition and road legal is being sold here for £3500
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C85844/In France, a similar car is up for €4500
http://www.leboncoin.fr/vi/38777426.htm?ca=17_sItaly, a restored 2cv of that era is on Ebay for €3990
Anybody else fancy finding some more for comparison? I've got to go to work...
