Post Roco ‘s scant thoughts
Roco ‘s scant thoughts on the love of my adult life .
gleaned the hard way over the past 45 years with the 2CV and it's kin,
great practical car that goes beyond it’s just car , more like a family pet.
Over the years things that have worked for me,
1 / fitting a Dyane engine with complete intake and carburettor
2/ going up a few sizes on the secondary barrel jet
3/ fitting basic electronic ignition , nothing fancy , ( been running a lumitron LED /chopper blades for the past 17 years , but still carry a points box pre set just in case :) :)
4 / heater tubes , I use domestic tumble drier concertina tubes , they seem to come in 2 sizes , 1st. is a perfect fit but noisy the 2nd fits over with steam pipe lagging between,
I obtained mine from my local recycling centre 17 years ago FOC ,back then I was faster on my feet ;)
Love following the heroes on here with their development of the cars ,
but for me K.I.S. & if it broke why fix it ,

More of my thoughts , MOT testing, choose the garage wisely,
looking back online at my cars test history I came across it's only failure,

Reason(s) for failure :o
• Nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
• Offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)

That's the reason for me getting the 13hr overnight ferry to Aberdeen and driving 450 miles to Worcestershire every year. I'd rather take my 2CV to the MOT station I used when I lived down south, rather than risk handing it over to a tester who has never seen a 2CV, let alone MOT one. The tester down south knows the car and 2CVs in general. :)

It can help if you go to an MOT where there is someone who can read...

Indeed guys , but anyone who was literate in the garage trade was called Boss or guv , if not moved on ,me included! , ( with no regrets ) , but as a kid (15.1/2 y. o.) great training ,

as a aside, today my Vauxhall crankshaft sensor failed , so my 75 2cv is my daily temp. workhorse , hence my KIS “keep it simple” past comments ,
“Bluey” started easy after a month unused , and I smiled every mile , not only because it’s now road tax free , and maybe MOT free next year ?
:)
Edit , to say no insult intended to mechanics , indeed still proud to say retired Dev. engineer ,
