Post ... and yet more bits fall off.
Last night I rather foolishly attempted to chuck a wooden wedge back through the open roof of my car, from a distance of about ten feet after a number of beers. Having already managed the same feat with a bag of soft toys I was perhaps feeling a little overconfident. Anyway, the predictable result of my cack handed throwing like a girl tomfoolery is that I smashed the windscreen, and rather than have it fixed I've elected to remove it completely and drive the car in aviator goggles for the next three weeks, after which time I will have a welder and will be able to replace the widscreen panel and screen.
As far as I can tell there's nothing illegal about running without a windscreen. Anyone know any better? It's certainly good fun. :)

That is fantastic.

A mate once threw a radio through the windscreen of mine, changing the windscreen is a half hour job with a couple of friends and some washingup liquid and super string.

I'm not sure about the legalities of running with no windscreen though, having only done it for 15 miles to borrow the windscreen from said mates car.

When it comes to getting a replacement the cheapest I could find was the2cvshop at £35. Were I to do it again though I may try and get someone to cut one to shape if I could find that cheaper.

Classic! I'm sure it's fine to be sans 'screen - there are loads of VW buggies & jeep type things without! You might want to get a gum shield to protect your pearly whites from flies & the like! ;)

I know that if the windscreenwhipers of my 2cv do not work and I need APK (=MOT) I can take out the windsheeld. By law we do not have to have working whipers if we do not have a windsheeld. This means it is legal to drive aroune without a windsheeld in the Netherlands.
