Okay so I am spending some time in BiH, and today I struck gold just a few minutes away where I currently am:
A Cimos Dyane, apart from a new exhaust almost completely original:

The owner said it spended most of it's life in a shed, and it still looks good... The price is around 3000 euro.

But I never liked the shape of Dyane's that much... Maybe the love comes when I have it a while. Even if I don't, it wouldn't be a problem to sell it again I guess...

But there is a catch, a German one to be precise:

Although the cabriolet conversion is DIY it looks quite good, and it's also in a quite good state I think...
And I'ts priced a bit friendlier at 2500 euro. Disadvantage: I don't know shit about bugs.
But for this summer it could be fun to have as a side car and then sell it.
Or keep it if I like it ;)

If I had the money I would buy both but since I am also in the game for a house 2 extra cars is financially a nogo.

Ecstaticly I like the bug more than the Dyane, but maybe you folks can share my some wisdom.

Where's BIH? The Dyane of course, and you could lower it to improve its look :P
It may be 500 euros more but it will use half the petrol, not breakdown ,not overheat and is more practical if you are having one car only, so would work out cheaper in the long run anyway! And you can still peel the roof off. Plus ,you could offer the seller 2250 or something and see where you get .
Still quite expensive i suppose but it does look mint..

Beetles are crap. The engine's in the boot, the fuel tank's under the bonnet; there's no luggage space to speak of at all. You can't take the seats out, so you can't do that 2CV thing where you take eight big Leyladii trees down to the tip. The Beetle I drove had a gearshift like a wooden spoon in a pan of porridge, although I'm prepared to believe many of them are better than that. Bought by surfer fashionistas and those who know no better, in my view. :)

I think you'll struggle to get a balanced opinion on a 2cv forum.
You should however buy the Dyane. Its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better looking too.

Easy. Bugs are shit. I'll grant you that they can look quite good, but the English language has a lovely phrase which applies perfectly: "to polish a turd".

Dyanes aren't immediately beautiful to most, but the design does grow on you and they ARE definitely becoming pretty cool. Why ride on the back of a passing wave when you can ride in front of one? They're also a lot more practical for everyday use and the ride, handling, and running costs are all far better.

Bosnia and Herzegovina. I already have a 2CV as a daily driver and this is just something to play with in the weekend. Although I don't know that much about Dyanes and I am a bit sceptical about the actual shed-time it looks not that bad on the first sight. It's a bit expensive but that's because it's not a normal Dyane but one made by Cimos.
What are the special points to give extra attention when buying a Dyane and are the rear fenders supposed to be made from plastic?

To be honest I only like the beetle for the better looks, so maybe:
A-type bottom
+
Beetle shell
?????
Profit!!!

But that's something for a future project.

I am very tempted to buy it, but first I will examine a rumour about a Cimos Ami Break that is supposed to be somewhere here.

Even if I can't find it and go for the Dyane it would be quite good sellable if I don't like it.
