Travelling in a 2CV in the 1980s
A friend of mine at works good friend has a 2CV history!
Dug out the old pictures, it took me back in time and was quite emotional, good old days! Yes please put them on the forum that is fine with me. I got a lot of attention when driving around in Egypt back in 1983 as you don’t really see any 2CVs down there. The car was great in the desert although I made many modifications to reinforce it before I left. I actually visited Citroën HQ in Paris before the trip and found a publication with instructions how to make the 2CV desert proof. I will dig deeper may even be able to find it somewhere. After 5 months with a lot of off-road the main bearing in the gear-box failed whilst going up a very steep track in Rhodes and some of the gear-box components got destroyed. I took it all a part in a field and took the bus to the next city where I found a Mehari in a scrap-yard. I was allowed to dismantle the Mehari gear-box and buy the bits and pieces required and so got my AK back on the road again.Pictures as below including captions
