Well, at least my chassis won't go rusty. I had to go up to Wolverhampton today because my band had a gig up there. At the end of the M50 I hit the brakes for the roundabout and was treated to a rather exciting dive to the left of the road. I nearly ended up in Worcester. Every time I hit the brakes thereafter I had to wrestle with the steering wheel, and when I finally got home I was able to turn into our drive simply by braking hard with my hands off the wheel. ![]() |

I had this once upon a time, oil was coming from the pushrod seals on one side, but it was cured with a new breather (I eventually discovered.) You might want to look around there first for a suspiciously clean sump! |

The cylinder head oil feed lines are nearly new, and they're those rather sexy braided things Uncle Roy sells. The pushrod tube seals look dry - they're new as well - and the only place I can see oil weeping very slightly is at the join between the crankcase halves below the front crank seal. I've put another breather on for now, but I think a nice new one is in order. Are the CPD valves Ecas sells any good, or should I buy a whole new breather? Bearing in mind that one is £41 and the other is £95 ... |

If the leak is that bad and it's not the oil feed pipes, maybe have a look at the pressure switch. |

Well, "pissing out" may have been a small exaggeration ... it seems to be from the front crank seal and is only the merest trickle when it's at tickover. But I've just run it up and down the dual carriageway and there's a good bit of oil on the front of the sump. I think it's time to build up my spare engine and drop that in, and it looks like I'll be cycling to work this week. ![]() |
