Post Anyone know anything about this extended bootlid and roof?
Looking through 2CV, 40 ans d'amour by Fabien Sabatès I spotted this photo

Image

Of Jacques Cornet's 2CV in which he travelled to Tokyo and back. The 2CV has a neat looking bootlid, extending capacity.

Then a few days ago I spotted this photo

Image

of a similar, but more rounded, bootlid on a site advertising Paris tours by 2CV.

Has anyone seen anything like either of these, as I much prefer them to the more recent boot extensions, which always look to me like someone's wedged half an old fashioned pram in the boot.

And finally on the same 2CV tours site, they had a this picture. A clear roll back roof.

I want one! Image

I also prefer those type of boot 'extension', much more elegant than the 'pram in boot' type. Trouble with those '50s ones is, the rear light panel is totally different on '70s/80s cars, so very unlikely to fit, without major butchering....Shame :(

No, I did the same, couldn't find a thing, in English, nor French. I was just looking to see if anyone made a boot lid hinge replacement part (just the rolled bit at the top of the lid). If they did I wondered about trying to make one of these bootlids out of fibreglass. It shouldn't be THAT difficult, as long as I've got the hinge to attach it to the rest of the 2CV.

It'd probably be half way between the two, not as boxy as the top one, but without the compound curved sides of the lower one.

I suppose if I couldn't find a hinge panel, then it could be fixed onto the roof, and have the whole lot hatchbacked, that'd solve a lot of problems.

EDIT. Ha! Look at that, Wikipedia's got a photo of them too.

I've seen them come up for sale at French Nationals, but seeing as they're quite rare, that is reflected in the prices :( Quite fancy the retro look though  Oh well, the best thing is to locate an original '50s car, with one attached. I quite fancy a 425 AZL, c1957 8-)

That's the one, although won't fit anything newer than 58, sadly. Looks like I'll have to buy it and then get the rest of the 2CV to match. How'd you find it so quickly?

I guess I could take a welding torch to a standard lid, but I'm loathe to do anything like that to something standard, much prefer to make from new. Maybe I should buy that one and take a mould from it?

If I do manage to make something reasonable, would anyone be up for one? I'd make it to match the later AZK style rear lamp panel.

Just found this:

on Le Bon Coin, which has one, and I'm guessing it's not a 50's original. Might give them a ring to ask.
