Watched some of it looked interesting, how did he get the power all of the way round the track? Mutliple transformers?

I read somewhere that James May bought that Ami 8 he drove in one of the Top Gear Challenges, but according to Ami Matt he is not on the register.

Yet.

I loved it! Everyone should check it out on iPlayer if you missed it - brought back all sorts of memories (of Scalextric, not Brooklands - I'm not that old!).

I used to have a Porsche 911, figure of eight track with a bridge and crossover, though I went off to have a look at how things are now - and I wouldn't mind something like this:

Still - I'm not even going to spend that on my snail so I don't think that's going to happen (nor would the wife ever forgive me...)

he used loads of 12v batteries place all along the length of the track. How many I know not, in fact that was one of the questions I wanted answering, How many metres of track would be energised by one 12v battery?

Ah, but if you remember, earlier in the show they were testing it going up slopes and running long distances and they did not complete a circuit - just flew the car off the end (this surprised me and they didn't explain it at the time). I think the new "digital" track bridges the circuit at the end of each piece rather than needing anything, because they had that section where they had to build it across the road when the cars approached. I think they must've had a battery at each trigger position...

i don't know how many batteries it used but the car was relayed all the way and there was about 130 people to each team so probs the same amount of batteries. It was very good especially the spiral to go up some stairs and they got 14mph on the straights!
