I'm puzzled by the image. A ripple bonnet 2CV4 apparently taken somewhere in Europe but it's right hand drive. The yellow headlight bulbs suggest it is French. What's the story behind that pic?

That's not a 2cv4, and I would guess the same as Neil that the negative had been reversed.

Adrienne Kessel's Citroen 2CV book (Bison, 1992) shows a pic from the same photo shoot, saying that it's from a publicity shoot (commissioned by Citroen, presumably) from the late 1950s. The photo in the book shows the car as LHD. I'd bet all my pension (value: £52.38) that Russell and Neil are correct about the neg having been reversed.

Seriously though, why do graphic designers do this, how is this photo worse than the other one? The worst you see is when they do it with text in the frame somewhere which becomes mirror writing : Duh : . Have you noticed how practically all modern car publicity photos and commercials use mirrorable number plates AAO 888 for example, so they can flip the publicity left to right, I guess for LHD / RHD markets.

Ah yes, on page 44. I always call old 2CVs without the rear quarterlights "2CV4s" but I guess I am technically incorrect.

A cracking looking girl though, and I love that era when young women wore attractive dresses like that. Nostalgia ;-)
