Dunno how much people know about the 2CV Centre but it was run by a guy (think his name was Darrell, or Darren) who (as I understand it) along with a chap named Peter Cross imported loads of 2CVs into the UK in the late 60s and early 70s from Holland, to satisfy demand from students and hippies. Then, when Citroen finally twigged that the UK was a viable market and started producing right-hand-drive cars, the two went their separate ways.

Peter Cross set up a Citroen-orientated service and repair centre called Continental under the railway arches in Selly Oak, Birmingham, while the other fella started the 2CV Centre, which ended up located in Brum about half a mile or so away from Peter's garage.

The 2CV Centre was the place that had that backwards 2CV. Used to get loads of attention, including items on TV...

Darryl Stokes ran The Birmingham 2CV Centre. Was on the corner of Franklin Road with Linden Rd/Watford Rd. in Bournville, just down the road from Cadbury. Peter Cross lives in Tibberton, Worcester, and looks after my 2CV. Think I've gone from being his nearest customer to being the furtherest away.
