That car is history, and the vendor in a state of serious denial: best to bury it a bit deeper in the surrounding jungle and let it compost back to its native elements.

Agreed. Quite possibly the only good part will be the V5C document, hopefully no where near as degraded as the rest of the car!

meh my blue car looked just as bad - i picked it up for spares and when i got it back and looked at it it was surprisingly solid and the main thing was nobody had been in welding metal lasagne to the chassis

however its starting to look like that again and i doubt ill have time to do it this WM

Over the mountains to Portugal is the target

however it was only £35 ( which was the going rate for scrap uplift at the time)

It looks salvageable but then unless it's been crushed every 2cv is salvageable to some extent. All you need is an engine and gearbox and a few donor parts and you could build a new one, the shell isn't as bad as some, in fact it's probably only as bad as my red/white 2cv is, just in different areas.

However, i think the bullshit advert is probably what's most insulting. Who out there is dumb enough to think a 'specialist auction house' (Who are we talking here, Bonhams?) is going to give a shit about some bag of shit 2cv that's nothing special at all? Maybe the hype has reached that far?

If you did all the work yourself, and had a reasonable stash of 2cv spares then I reckon you could get that roadworthy for around £1500 including the purchase price. Thing is, I'd worry that if I bought it somebody would think I'd also bought into the bullshit. I'd rather spend a grand and have something that's a bit closer to roadworthy, maybe with a galv chassis on and more recently on the road.

If you were paying somebody to do the work for you, as I would imagine most speculators would do, then best of luck to you. You're going to be in that thing for £5k MINIMUM and at the end of it you've got a 2cv special worth, ooh, maybe £5k, maybe £7.5k, maybe £10k if you get the right mug on the right day. Personally, I'd leave it for somebody who want's a nice little evenings and weekends project but who isn't in it for the money. Any even then, as Sean says, you can find 2cvs in that state for a couple of hundred quid if not freebies if you are willing to try.

I wonder if it'll sell, and if I should put my 2cv on ebay and try my luck also...

well someone payed 24,000 euros for this piece of scrap. You can have a good restored one for around 13,000.

"Retirement forces sale". Surely that would be the ideal time to start using the thing?
