Paul,
602'ing the little darlin' would be purely a temporary measure, just in case Daz didn't want to miss out on a trip to Registers' Day.

If that did happen, I'd probably hook up that rev limiter which is still around and proved quite useful during those years when the mix of a 602 engine and 4 box were mandatory for 2CV racing. ;)

Mind you, the same mix was requested by a Norwegian customer a year or so back, to go in his Mehari.
As Dago says, with 155 tyres on the Mehari and a national speed limit of 90kph (on motorways!) Knud opted for effortless hill climbing...

ken.

A 602 doesn't run ever so well on a 435 gearbox Ken, ratio's are all the wrong way as a 435 revs faster.

Unfortunately not. Almost all modern and mostly Porty Geese and I understand that many were semi-derelict when he bought the business from a previous owner. Most are missing roofs/doors and have been left open to the rain for years. £100 to £200 per car? He's extracting the renal juice, especially when any potential buyer is saving him the costs of clearing the site before he moves to Spain.

Still, it's not all bad news. He is becoming a desperate seller now as his ad on eBay didn't work and the deadline for his emigration is fast approaching so if anyone does need a scrapper or two you'll have the pick of what's there and may be able to name your own price. At the moment scrap values are fairly low again so anything above scrap value is a bonus for the seller.

Last time (June '08) I went to the yard there were a few cars with reasonable roofs and one or two cars with galvo chassis' (not 2cvShitty ;) ). Don't expect to find any little Easter Eggs like 123 ignitions though, 'cos anything like that had long since been removed. For me it was a wasted trip: His idea of a fair price was IMHO extremely unrealistic and I seem to recall that the seller has used a succession of eBay identities over the years.

I can see two Drummers in those pics though (the brush painted green one, which is a sister car to my blue Drummer - it was owned/done up by the same chap in the early 90s, and there's what looks like an Azurite Blue Drummer in the pics as well).

I've seen the green drummer upclose - it's a basket case. That said, it's no more of a basket case than my drummer or Mark Dunmore's that he showed us recently. Any of the other 2cvs are, as Rob says, portugese and very rusty.

The guy turned up 2 hours late for my appointment with him, but I got a fair deal on some bonnets so I was quite happy.

I think the seller has been trying to up the bid himself and then panicked when nobody outbid him. That's what it looks like. All a bit strange. I had a bit of a dealing with the seller of another car and the communication was very poor.

I asked about several bits and bobs and was told me he was only selling as a job lot, but most of the bits I asked for he couldn't give any indication as to condition, price or usuability. He's also been mentioned quite a lot on this forum before ... not in a good way.
