How the hell did I miss this! We've got a couple of lakes, my mother is handy with the spanners and likes a project, has always wanted a hovercraft and it is both Christmas and her birthday next month, would have been ideal. What a plonker I am!

I had a nouveau echange engine in 1994. It was brilliant and would hold at 70+ on the motorway and still have oomph to overtake. Cost about £450 then though.

Ah, but if you shove £450 in 1994 into an inflation calculator website, it's equivalent to £760 now. Which is just over €900. So his €1000 starting price isn't bad, really...

ECAS are asking £1200 for a rebuild (who does them?)...

Actually I don't think it's bad at all - just saying things get dearer. And if I was looking for a brand new engine to do 100,000 trouble free miles that mine did I'd buy it.

Given that it's sat in unknown (but presumed decent) conditions for 15yrs, I think I'd stump the extra up for a "fresh" one, especially since it removes the hassle of having to arrange a courier from Germany.
