Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
My parents had a J reg 1971 Dyane when i was born ,then an N reg 1975 green club which i remember well, and their last A series was a cream V reg Dyane in the early 80s. Remember being gutted when they started to get normal cars ,something to do with work ,company cars etc although my dad did get through 3 cx's too and they were cool. Then in about 2002 i knocked on a door in Hitchin where i'd seen a couple of vans and a 2cv and ended up buying an AKS400 SAV 204M which i had for about 3 or 4 years, wonder where that is now ,it was tatty but very solid on its original chassis and had had all the floors and sills done well.

They've been gently moving away from 2cving for a few years, and have just got shot of their other van, the Acad, to Ami Matt.

Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
I got into them back in '79, had just written an MG Midget off after T-Boning an Allegro that pulled out in from of me and was looking for a soft top car and a new 2CV just seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Had been going to and through France for many years on holiday before that with my parents and always loved the quirkiness of French cars and always lusted after something unique. Loved the snot box (green club) and kept it for 3 years until promotion and a company car came along. Various others after when my wife wanted to learn to drive - aks400, Dyane and 86' Special. Got back into them again 18 years later when my sons pestered me into buying Dudley the R/W D***y and now the rest is history...

Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
My introduction started back late 80's early 90's my mum brought a green dyane off a friend and then promptly sprayed it bright yellow,I nicked it soon after passing my test in 91 and travel all over the place in it until it caught light one day and unfortunately it got scrapped!!!!!
By this time I was hooked and found myself a cote d'azur which I had for many years and attended many events back in the early and mid 90's, had many more dyanes about 12 through the 90's until I moved North and had to sell them all... It would be almost 10 years later around 2007 when I got back into them with yet another dyane, had many other cars during that time mainly citroen's ZX, Xantia, and sereval BX's including a couple of Gti 16v model, what a beast they were!! (have never in almost 20 years of driving owned or driven a 2cv always been dyanes)
And here we are 2010 with a yet another dyane, but this time its a Good old Sidewinder... Hope to get back into the events scene in 2011 once I can get the beast back on the road.....

Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
Saw the odd Dyane in our village in Somerset in the 1970s and just couldn't quite work them out. Then went to secondary school in nearby Taunton & discovered many of my teachers had them (Art teacher had a red and a blue one in succession, French teacher a red one, music teacher a beige one, RE teacher a blue one then a 1960s 2CV. My English teacher had a white DS). They were the only cars which never slowed down for the speed bumps at all. Staring out of the window bored and my gaze would often fall upon a Dyane, usually with its front wheels turned and 'flopped over', which also confused me. I used to doodle them all over my rough book. Friends of my parents bought a beige Dyane in 1979. They came to visit one evening & I remember sneaking outside to look at the car. Opened the door and there was 'that' smell that 2CVs & Dyanes always have and the gearlever in a place which I just couldn't understand. A classmate's mother then bought a red 2CV Club which passed me everyday as I cycled home from school. Bug by then had truly bitten. Became a member of 2CVGB at the age of about 13. It was like my own little dirty fetish. No-one quite understood me, but I couldn't stop! Going past a garage one day in 1986 saw a 1980 Azzie blue 2CV Club for sale. It was a bit tatty & so cheap enough for me to buy. Sold my Morris Minor within the week & bought it. A while later got a 1980 jaune mimosa Dyane, which did a huge mileage and took me a million places. Later still, got a 1989 ex-Dolly black 2CV which I have recently sold. The next A-series will be a Dyane. It all started with Dyanes & I have a soft spot for them.

Re: How did you get into 2CV's?
I was car mad as a child. My father had a run of chevrons: GS estate, GS Pallas (a very fine car) GSA which somehow seemed smaller than the GS and then his last Citroen was a BX GT. His taste in cars was interesting and he would change them often, still does. That meant going along on lots of test drives with him to find the next new car. I remember travelling what seemed like miles to view a white Citroen SM, but the garage was closed My mother hated the idea of a 2cv as she thought it was too small/underpowered for a family of five. I remember we traded in the GS Pallas for an Alfa Sud at the local Citroen dealership. This predictably meant bringing the Sud back to the dealership under warranty to sort out endless problems. So many happy hours spent looking at Citroens at the dealership, while the Sud was teasing the mechanics. There was always a blue Visa in the corner of the forecourt covered in seagull shizzle, no one wanted it. But to get back to the point, I went (as a pasenger) on three test drives of various 2cvs over the years, every time the car made me grin and laugh, no other car has given me that same fun feeling.
