Are you running it in a shed far away from the electricity closet??? Then there's to low current to keep the motor running (especially when it needs to come in when it is already filled with air). Take it close to the electricity closet (where the power cable comes into your house and try it there) probably it will run fine there....

When it does you need a delay valve, when the motor runs decent after about 10 seconds the valve closes and only then the pressure is build up...


I had the same long time ago...

Its not that far away LPGO from the mains into the house, I use the same socket to run my mig welder - the valve seems to be working ok when I let the air out of the compressor the motor cuts in OK

join and have an ask on here http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/ plenty of sparks and people that use and fix them every day, theres a few eejits that know fuck all that'll chip in with drivel but youll be able to work out who knows what.
