My turbo-car didn't. Only 6500 rpm revlimiter with Original 2cv6 gearbox... so this would be about 130km I guess. But it even did that up a slope on moterway 5% without full throttle.

But would it do it without rev limiter set?

A broken crankshaft is the usual result of ignoring the rev limit on a roadgoing A series, although I think there's been some more spectacular debris available in photographs taken at Spa...

Don't they stick out from the crankcase anyway ;)

Seriously, how is that even possible?

Well, strictly speaking, the piston was sticking out of the exploded barrel at an ungodly angle, with oil everywhere, but the crankcase was damaged in the process. Over-revving in 3rd on the A11 outside Norwich. Big cracking noise. I took some pics of the damage, but chucked them years ago.

Got stiffed for a replacement engine (£250, at a time when these things were 10-a-penny, but I was more interested in chasing women and getting trollied - basically I was young idiot) by the local 2CV mechanic at the time. He was a strident Marxist named Robbie, if I remember correctly, who used to try to convince me of the coming revolution at the same time as he trousered what was left of my student grant! Bloody communists!

Ah, if only you'd been chasing women & getting trollied in 2cv campsites...

With hindsight, I couldn't agree with you more - on so many levels!

Yes it will easely do, but I think only once because you will blow up the engine or run it into death, it's still an original engine........

p.s. at 6500 rpm it makes already a noise like it's going to explode any minit under severe boost..........

And with the turbo it keeps building up power, so theoreticly with 1.5 bar of boost (and more) it will go to 75 hp and more, I know 1 thing for sure a standard 2cv engine can stand this...
So I don't do this... Or do you sponsor me an engine... then we will do a dynorun, looking how far it will go........

At one point, many years ago, a friend had a Beachcomber with a 652 in it - 2cv crankcase, Visa barrels machined to fit.

I was in the passenger seat when he got it to some ridiculous speed in a gear far too low - just to see what'd happen, and exactly how little power there was at high revs. IIRC, it worked out to somewhere slightly north of 8,000rpm before it seized so suddenly and dramatically that the fan came off and all the flywheel bolts sheared...

When it was stripped down, there was a bit of machining swarf sticking out of the oil feed hole in one of the bearings.

Lpgo, if you're willing I'll give you a standard engine. I don't know how to get it to you, but there's one here I can spare if you fancy trying to push the limits...
