I agree ......Of my two local groups [RADARS* & TROY**] .....only four members of RADARS and a similar number of TROY members frequent this [and the 2CVGB] forum.
Both groups manage an attendance of about 9-12 cars at each monthly meeting ......simple maths would suggest that equates to only about  40% of the membership.
Not everyone has the interest, inclination or time to spend in front of a PC.

best regards
T. ;)

*RADARS .....Rotherham And District Association of Roaming Snails .....meet 1st wednesday of every month at "The Bay Horse,Scholes,S61 2RQ"
**TROY ......The Ridings of Yorkshire [Selby] .... 2nd Thursday at "The Black Dog,Camblesford,Selby,YO8 8HX

I'd love to see the logo on the front cover printed using embossed foil.... U know so it looks like it's actually is gold, that way the resale value may be quite high! Then I can make a little profit on each issue woteva the contents! :P

Yeah, keep it monthly. You can't please all the people all the time. The magazine can only be as good as the articles submitted for inclusion. If the only stories that the ed gets are about 'Penelope in Perpignon' then that's all there is to work with. I'm not sure I want to read the alternatives ... "Fred the Shed and I went to Basingstoke to Wilkinsons to buy some sundry items and we parked in a multi storey car park, here's a picture of Fred on the 4th floor parked next to a Ford Focus. After that we went to the Egg & Chips cafe for lunch...."
Whenever there is a change of editor, the 2cv racing theme always crops up but does the ed get any stories or articles to feature? If something is not featured then it's because it hasnt been submitted.
I don't give a monkeys who advertises in the mag, it more or less pays for it to exist anyway and you can always choose to ignore said adverts. They are not compulsory reading.
I do not envy anyone who willingly takes on the roll of 2cvgb mag editor.

I agree ......IMHO ..... a bi-monthly mag would make planning local camps or days out a nightmare. Notice would have to be given three months in advance, only the members of one p'ticular group would know what they were planning and dates would clash with what other groups were planning :( ...... unless of course the majority of members could be persuaded to go online to check things out  ... which I doubt very much is a possibility. :(
I speak from experience .....I am a member of a Motorcycle Owners Club which has a nice glossy bi-monthly mag,the rank & file membership need a local "small mag" [news-sheet] every month to know exactly whats being planned on a Nationwide basis.

Perhaps have a feature in the mag promoting the new-look club website - with screengrabs and a 'talkthrough' of the various sections, how to register on the forum etc. Might get a few more members to go and have a look at least. I know of a few people who gave up with the old 2cvgb site for whatever reason.

One of the discussions we had tonight was wether to totally abandon technical stuff. It's so easy to get it online, whats the point?

The problem with that is that if you take it to its logical conclusion, everything - social stuff, camp details, pictures of shiny cars called "Moppet" - is easier to get online. I'm currently not a 2CVGB member partly for this very reason. But I think you need the mag, all the same. As others have said, not everyone has internet access.
Congratulations, by the way. :)

Yes, there will be! I had planned to do this after the launch of the new site, but somehow the camping season got in the way, and I spent all my spare time trying to get the server issues resolved...

Out of about 3,000 members, only 250 regularly use the forum. There's probably more 2CVGB members on here than use the Club forum (certainly all the most interesting discussions relating to the club seem to happen here), leaving us (mainly, but not exclusively!) with the crossword-loving, straw-hatted "D*lly" brigade. That's cool - we welcome all sorts - although I was hoping some of you *might* pop back occasionally to liven the place up a bit, but I'm usually met with indifference on that score (if not thinly veiled animosity, or a slagging off for it apparently looking too much like here), which really boils my piss, to borrow one of my favourite Russisms.

I was hoping to have a short 'feature' specially for the website every month to give people a reason to check it out occasionally, but I can't even get anyone* to send me their photos from over the Summer (although there's a metric duckload up here and on FB), let alone some short write-ups. This being the case, all I can do is try to make the site appealing to potential new members in the hope that they'll join up, which is vital to our survival, but was only part of the reason I took on the job.

[*Thanks to the 3 people that have sent me their photos if they are reading this - once/if I get enough to make a gallery, I'll be uploading them!] 8-)

Err.. sorry for that tangential rant. Sort of.

Meanwhile, back on topic...

Good luck with the mag, Sam. You'll be ace, because of your infectious enthusiasm, and more importantly, because you have managed to elicit some enthusiasm from the disillusioned (ex-)members, where I have epically failed with respect to the website.

So, please stick to your word, good people of I2F/2CVGB, and send him the articles you've promised! I, for one, will look forward to reading them! PLEASE don't let Sam feel, a year in to his stint, that he's picked up a poisoned chalice and has been left pissing in the wind.

For my part, I'll get you an article on the website. Honest. :D

P.S. Sam - remember to bring a waterproof to the Committee meetings because you'll end up being showered in shit from all directions if you dare express an opinion. Actually, no, that happens behind your back, afterwards.

P.P.S. I'd like to complain to the proprietors of this forum about the lack of quality swearage allowed. Thought we were allowed to 'spEak Ou're bRanes' here..?! You have no one to answer to, after all. To quote Stephen Fry, "it *is* big, and it *is* clever".

P.P.P.S. Sorry this is all a bit negative - guess my subconscious just needed to unburden! I only really came on here to volunteer a mag article and wish Sam luck.

Heartfelt apologies about the swear filter. It was put in without the consent of Neil, Max or myself and apart from the D*lly filter I promise to remove them in the near filter. I'd welcome creative swearing.

My point about the two websites looking the same was mainly because the last time I looked at it , and it is much better than before btw, the picture across the middle was Max's van in a field if rape, ie, the same as ours. While you're welcome to any of my photographs I would have thought it'd be better to avoid using one anthers banner pictures.

I rather like the 2CVGB website, and I was using the forum until my computer threw a wobbler and deleted my biscuits (or something) and I couldn't sign in any more.
