Whether the intent is there, it is still likely to put peoples backs up. Although I'm a long way past caring if I upset anybody or not, it shouldn't bother me.
It's like the standard patronising and infuriating response people with kids always give: "Oh well, you wouldn't understand because you're not a parent"....
