I though we were talking about fat blokes I hesitate to say it, in case (in case? Of course it will be) it gets misconstrued, but... I'm going back to bed.

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
I reckon if you took the roof and bootlid off the car, and maybe the front wheel off the bike, that'd probably go in OK.
Just got to hope the weather's good!

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
I've had a 500 trail bike .... this ..... ....in the back of a Dyane [with the rear seat, passenger seat & bootlid removed and the roof rolled back] .....I had to get a couple of mates to help me to lift it in [rear wheel first .....with the front wheel taken off]. The main problem was finding some way of tying it down securely.....[a rope around each end of the bars and tied to the bumper brackets] .....loads of cushions [from an old three peice suite] helped too. It still was'nt a very pleasant journey. T.

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
The general consensus seems to be that it won't go, which makes me all the more keen to try, I'd quite happily cut out the rear roof bar and bolt it back if I thought that would be the only issue. But I don't think there's a hope in hell of getting the boot and roof back on once it was in, and it's too far to travel with no weather protection. Plus I don't envisage a long line of volunteers to help me lift it. It's not like I haven't got a bike trailer here, it's just the 160% price hike for the ferry that I find a bit hard to swallow. I mean, if someone said they'd give me £80 if I could get the bike in the car, then of course I'd try. Yep Matt still got the fazer, early shape in black, best looking of the lot imho. What about one of those plywood camping extensions on the back of the car

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Joolz, what port are you looking to use? If you're doing Calais-Dover, then try SeaFrance and put "2cv" in their promotion code window. I booked about 4days before the crossing, to go to the French National, and 2cv towing a 3.4m trailer-tent cost me £95.

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Just take the bike apart and put it in the car piece by piece. The problem hasn't been invented yet that can't be solved with a decent socket set.....
Edit: I have to admit I've found the occasional female exception to that theory, but I postulate I haven't bought quite the right tool off the Snap On man yet, so I persevere with visiting his van...
