something odd about it though, if it's a new build with new parts how did it get a Y reg plate?

Because the identity isn't new.

The vehicle details for NVL 804Y are:

Date of Liability 01 08 1992
Date of First Registration 24 06 1983
Year of Manufacture 1983
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 602CC
Fuel Type Petrol
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour RED

So it's a red car that's not been on the road since 1992. Riiiight.

Does it come with the optional extra caravan?

Carl Baker built a Charleston from new parts and it was finished much nicer than that. I'd have thought they'd have finished that car off before selling it.

I agree with Myles, the 'swish' up the side looks odd

The triangular pieces between the bonnet and the wings (forgot what they're called) have got telltale creases along the top edges. So they're not new.

Interesting? What about new gear box and engine? How do you find Carl Baker on FB, only 4 people show up and no 2cv?

I'm not sure, there are a few bits on it that aren't new, but the vast majority of it is. It's not a heavily restored car, but one he built from the ground up.

Might be worth doing a check on that plate in a year, see what it's been transferred to...
