Post Re: The O/T thread!
I'm not sure if I've gone off on one about TV adverts before, I probably have because it's something that winds me up something chronic anyway, but this evenings little rant is about something that really, really boils my piss: Eating noisily.

Maybe it's me getting grumpier and far more easily irritated, but almost every advert on the telly that advertises food features a hideous sound effect of some uncouth and ill mannered prick crunching food with their mouth wide open. And it really pisses me off. The Crunchy nut cornflakes advert upsets me enough but the one that really makes me want to kick seven shades of shit out of my telly is the adverts for Magnum ice cream. I have to mute the telly otherwise I'm overcome with rage. On one hand, the advert is saying 'Buy this ice cream because it's dead sophisticated and all the tidy leggy tarts eat them' then in the next breath it's all 'crunch munch gobble gobble' and it's feeding time at the zoo. Making a noise like a pig isn't sophisticated, so why advertise the food as if it's not only acceptable, but it's actually desirable? I now can't buy these foods out of principle.

 Now that's what I call a rant! Love it!

Apparently the advert - of all adverts - wot caused the most consternation, ever, in the history of adverts was the one for KFC or similar which had people mumbling-singing with their mouths full of food. I guess it was meant to be light-hearted, but it seems it made most viewers want to do lots of face-punching...

All TV adverts wind me up - it's one of the reasons I never watch telly except when car or motorbike racing is on - as I object to being taken for a moron. I can't understand the point of them ... I mean, I can acknowledge that the adverts for John Smiths Smoothpour (or whatever it was called) with that irritating Bolton twat Peter Kay were actually quite funny, but the funniest advert in the world won't change the facts, which are that John Smiths Smoothpour, or whatever it's called, tastes of fuck all and that I and any other discerning person with tastebuds would prefer to drink piss than that stuff. How is an advert featuring Peter Kay going "yer barred!" going to make me think "hmmm, I might try that stuff next time I'm out and about"?

The last few days I've noticed the forum is significantly slower to load...
On my PC at work, at home and on my mobile phone...

You people have the same problem, or am I the only one and has the line between UK and the rest of Europe got some kinks in it?

Yep, it's been slow-to-load for me too.

It probably needs an update that we haven't done for ages because we don't know how to.
