Ten grand for a 2CV is just f**king ridiculous. A five minute trawl through ebay revealed that ten grand will also buy you:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-911-/3206 ... 4aa6922002

Now, much as I like 2CVs, I think if I had ten thousand pounds to blow on a car, I'd probably go for a Rolls Royce or a Porsche 911 instead of a biscuit tin with a sewing machine under the bonnet.

Prices for 2cv is always a point for discussion . One can buy 2cv for 500 euro an can be a good car for driving. But if you go to complete restoration you can spend 10 or 15000 eur on it.

For that money you can buy a new car. That is true . But we are all crazy, so we buy and drive and spend money for 2cv-s .

1000 eur ... http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/146075378.htm?ca=1_s

or

...that is a question now...

Anyway I agree . Normal people will buy RR or Porsche... it is easier to maintain and service and it is much more fun to drive them than 2cv tin can.

:D :D

I find it strange that some people put down people willing to pay 10.000 for a near new 2cv. Just remember the effort with countless hours and new parts going in to a fully and proper restored 2cv. You get for you pay for in most cases. I do respect a person wanting to pay 10 kilos or even double, naturally I would never pay that much.

Lets compare the price of a 'new' 2cv in 2010, with the price of a brand new 2cv in 1989. Back in 1989/90, a brand new 2cv in the UK cost around £4,500. Today, you can buy a Fiat Panda with ABS,airbags,radio/CD player, front & rear head restraints and quite a bit more besides, for around £7,500. In today's money, a brand new 2cv from Citroen UK would cost £8865 based on 1989's price. In 1989, the 2cv was the cheapest new car on the road, but going by the price of a Panda(and it's not the cheapest new car), then new cars have never been cheaper. For example, a brand new Morris Minor in 1948 would have cost you £550, in today's money that would be £10,500 and you didn't even have a heater on a '48 Minor :o
