Keep it up guys, This forum has grown in size. And im guessing its a long way off what Russ and Neil thought it would be like. (Just them two.)

Spread the word, lets go for 1000. :)

yes and excellent they are too Ben!! Each to there own I'd say Ben and too be honest, I find a lot of the posts are duplicated between the 2 forums anyway but I must say I've been put off by some of the "fighting" that I've found on here in certain threads. It might not be as bad as it seems but it's certainly put me off sometimes.

Anyway congratulations to Neil & Russ (or is that Russ & Neil?!!) on creating an alternative place for enthusiasts to look. There are a lot of us that miss you on the club site but that's life I suppose.

We do only aim to talk all things 2cv Related over here. That was the initial idea from Russ and Neil. I think they have done great. Tbh this place has only really grown from word of mouth. We did attempt a hard sell at the world meeting but failed. (There was no mention of what I2F actually was :? ) and when you think its only been 11 months.

Its not really 'Fighting', more a debate. Its great i think that everyone is putting their ideas through.

People work in different ways with their cars. If somone posted some advice and people thought it was wrong but left it without saying something... Lets be honest it wouldnt be what it is today.

Max

I agree - debate and difference of opinion is good but a couple of threads seemed to get a bit personal :( - the Aftermarket Chassis one springs to mind. I do visit this place daily and have got a sticker/T shirt but don't tend to post as much as I find it a bit confusing trying to keep up with the same subjects on 2 different forums :?

I do miss their humour on the club site though

Max is right here, it can get heated but I think the beauty of it is that those offering help are just very keen to be understood. There's no harm in that. I agree with you though Bertie in that sometimes things seem to go round and round, my personal preference to this is that unless proven one way or the other it remains a difference of opinion betwixt those debating it, but I'm 100% convinced that if thge same people were arguing the same point in a field the atmosphere would appear very different..

I should point out also in reference to Ben and Berties posts, that although Neil, Max and I are fully paid up members of 2CVGB, we're not trying to compete with them, we're aiming at making this forum a place for 2cvers anywhere in the world utilising the gift of the WWW. Gathering together opinions, interest and knowledge on A-series vehicles from across the globe. 2CVGB, whilst being part of our 2cving lifestyle has no bearing on this, I'm sure a few of you are aware of the reasons behind Neil and my reluctance to use the 2CVGB forum, and I think it's fair to say the limitations of that forum (which is only a small part of a much bigger club, not the be-all and end-all of it) were what got us into discussing starting international2cvfriends.com. The internet is a fairly untapped resource when it comes to meeting 2cv owners and making friends within the 2cv fraternity. It's always been a case of meeting people at world meetings and the few meetings you attend outside your own borders. Why keep it this way? sure, the best part of 2cv meetings is seeing friends you only see at 2cv meets, but isn't it good to have a way of getting to know new people beforehand?

When I first became involved with A-series cars again in 2005, I didn't know a single person within the fraternity, but I soon became in touch with many 2CV owners in the UK via the internet. What occured to Neil and I is that it seems most countries with 2cv clubs have thier own web forum to keep in touch. What we're aiming to do is stretch that out across the globe. It's a slow process, not helped by a number of factors but we still feel it's worthwhile doing, and as time goes on we've seen it get better and better, and all of us have started to achieve what we set out to do in the first place, make new 2cv friends across international borders, open our minds to what's out there and increase our knowledge of all things 2CV.

By all means, copy/paste your posts from other web forums, because it spreads the info and ideas further, and this can only be a good thing.
