Oh dear, you may upset Rumble602, with that quote

By the way, I've not voted because the option I would click, isn't there.

Oops, I wasn't aiming that remark at anyone in particular I hasten to add.

The part I've always loved about 2CVs and other old cars, I have a bit of an obsession with Volvos too, is fossicking around in rural France or the back of beyond in Sweden and meeting individuals who’ve had them for years. I'm fortunate in that my French is pretty good and over the years I've been invited into lots of people's houses. The occasion that I collected a very early 2CV van for a friend was particularly memorable. The guy insisted I try his home made liqueur. He later revealed it was made with sugar, leaves from his hedge and the “secret” was getting the pharmacy to sell him the alcohol.

I only tried a mouthful, and I KNOW I shouldn’t have been driving afterwards, never mind towing a trailer! I still have half a bottle of it, but given the pharmacy provenance of the alcohol I’ve never had the courage to partake again... Somehow I get more out of that than the big field meets. I ought to try harder with those though.

What is your desired option?

attended many meets over the years in all sorts of cars but must admit they have all been citroens. bx c15 visa diesel picasso. some of the time not had an a series. its more about the friends ive made etc. these days i use the picasso for towing but i may get the acad out if funds allow. also need a rear seat for the van so i can fit the new member of my family in it

Blimey Bertie what HAVE you started ;)

If my 2cv was off the road and temporarily I had something boring I would take it so I could see my friends and keep in with the spirit of things.

I think there's a line between 'events' and 'camps.'

Surely tonnes of people come to Hove Park to see us simply because they're interested or fancy an afternoon looking at old cars.

If you don't own a 2cv at all I think Its a bit odd to go to a 2cv camp (unless of course, you're between cars, a previous owner that enjoys the scene or a prospective buyer investigating the scene).

But Tom, this weekend I could go and see all my 2cv friends in a sprinter van, or I could not go to a 2cv event at all, and therefore won't be supporting it at.

Alternatively, you get a lift with me - seeing your friends AND arriving in a 2cv (albeit a D*lly, thus decimating your street cred) its almost win win.

I absolutely loathe meetings that involve cars standing in fields. Add a few tossers walking round drunk or dressed up in "interesting" clothes (or both) and my misery is complete.

I only go if I need obscure parts or need to look at something, so I usually take either a Volvo estate or a Mercedes Sprinter and leave as quickly as I possibly can. It never really occurred to me that there was fun to be had.

Bah humbug to you too ;) In fairness, when I bought my 2cv I distinctly remember saying 'I just want a car, I'm not interested in the social scene...'

I always had 2cv-s (dyane, ami) so it is normal to to go to meeting in one of that car. Only once I did not go wit my 2cv and I was feeling naked and after few hours I went back home... that was in 1991 and my first 2cv didnt have MOT.

So always with 2cv (DY, AMI) ...

For me? I doubt it.

Oh, and for the record, I was driving a 2CV at that meeting.
