should have come down to the bottom field.

I had a look in the 'noisy field' as one of the 2cvgb officials put it, but it was fairly quiet.

Agreed.. Anybody else notice how diabolical that cover band was at Winchester? Sorry but it just was... They would have been much better to just get a DJ... imo

If anyone wants an original band with good tunes and some humour, I play in one ... google "Rhythm Thieves" for more details. 8-)

I think we have a volunteer to organise the ents next year...

I don't understand this logic that says if you don't like something you must prove you can do better. People are entitled to an opinion and they're entitiled to voice it without having to then do it themselves to make the point.

I don't like Lenny Henry, that doesn't mean I've got to hang out the back of Dawn French to prove it.

C'mon, Russ... Do my smileys need to be actually explicit these days?

But let's not forget that volunteers for running the Int'l are not exactly thick on the ground - and there's no real need to be proper-local-local to do anything but the actual basic on-site planning.

It's the same every time somebody says they didn't like something, the standard response is simply 'Well then, you do it better', which achieves nothing. If those voicing the opinion don't have the facilities, time or knowledge, or even the will to organise something it doesn't automatically relinquish any right they have to say 'I didn't like it because.......'. If those who are able and willing to organise events wish to look at the critisism and act upon it (or not) then I think that's all you can expect.

If I remarked on an event and got a bolshy reply telling me to do it myself I'm probably more inclined to just not go to the event again. Who does that help?

If it achieves nothing but act as a reminder that all these events are organised solely by volunteers and amateurs, then that's more than enough. Sometimes, and without malice, it's forgotten.

Sure, events are rarely perfect. But they wouldn't exist at all if people didn't volunteer to run 'em.
