For just over an Ayrton, I'd be heading to 'chichester Argos pronto, regardless of whether I had a compressor!

Yeh, but are they any good? I'd rather have good used tools than crap new ones - the rattlegun I paid a tenner for off fleaBay is a decent brand and really does put some oomph in, unlike the cheapies.

As for the Waxoyl - get a "Schutz gun" instead of a paraffin sprayer - then you just buy the 1l schutz tins of rustproofer instead of the bulk, a lot less mess.

"Are they any good?"

I dunno - I haven't used it yet. But it all looks surprisingly decent quality, and I would expect all the pieces to do exactly what they are supposed to - except, perhaps, the paint gun. For the money, I wouldn't particularity expect the included paint sprayer to give perfect results, but it certainly looks well made and feels ok.

The blow-gun (I can feel my carb quivering in anticipation), paraffin sprayer (solid and well finished) and tyre inflater (nice large gauge) all look well up to the job and, for less than £12, it's a steal. I suspect I might even be pleasantly surprised by the paint gun itself...

Keep an eye out on fleabay if you are after a decent spray gun to compliment the set; I picked up a SIP in unused condition for £16 delivered, and it turned out to be their Sapphire model which usually sells for over £40. Ok, it ain't a DeVilbiss, but it has full control over air and paint output, and is reckoned to be, at least, semi-pro.

It'll do me :)

Have you got access to a compressor? The 'high pressure Waxoyl gun' was a dead loss - it was a hand pump which screwed on to a 2.5 ltr can - it was forever blocking up. If you can get hold of a compressor buy yourself a Paraffin gun - they're dead cheap off eBay, etc. You can also had a length of tube to it, whack a nail in the end and pierce some holes in the tube - so it then becomes a cavity gun & with the holes you get great coverage inside sills, door pillars, etc.

Yes i concur ,the waxoyl pump is a pain in the arse. i've spent hours getting high on fumes and covered in it with one of those, constantly unblocking it even though i had it in a bucket of very hot water .I have got a compressor and will be using that next time for sure.

I find using a BX in the winter months a far easier A series rust preventer Image

I've 'borrowed' this from Jeroen Cats website - this will be perfect for you as i believe you still have the original chassis?

As for the body - there are loads of places you can inject. You will probably find you have pre-drilled holes in the A and C posts - you can use those to inject wax up around the door frames and either end of the sills. There should be holes on the underside of the sills that you can feed your probe in!

Vent flap - open it up & you'll see the strengthener on the back has a hole either end. you can also paint the back of it & whack a load around the rubber - it's easy to clean of the excess. Have a look around the windscreen frame on the inside for holes & chuck a bit down either side of the pillars. Open the roof & clean under the rubber seal - infact, bollocks, have a look at Lenny's thread to see where 2cvs rust! From that you should be able to find holes you can squirt your goo in!
