That's my issue... could have used anything. I quite like the end result, but I like the car it was to begin with more.

Particularly as so little of the original car actually looks to have been used. Shame that.

 fairly sure all the original was used
Grumpy old farts the lot of you :D
It looks like a nice dagonet replica with the correct windscreen tilt and sectioned body, although closed rear doors.
Sitting at a higher than standard ride height this will look great!
Where did you find it Sam?

It's a proper Dagonet replica, strangely Jean Dagonet was indeed using classic A-series.

Hooky told me they couldn't get the geometry quite right with the back doors, so decided to do it as a 2 door.

This is what Hooky does. Re-creates lost 2cv models. Royal Navy pickup, G.H.A.N. French army and now a Dagonet.

It's great to see them in the flesh, albeit replicas.

No build thread, but have a sneak peak of next month's 2cvGB News:

Quote:
What IS Hooky up to?
A question asked recently by those 2Cvers at the Princethorpe College based national, now I will tell all.
Currently I have a few projects running after the GHAN was finished in 2011.
The first came about as I decided to have a go at the Oz raid in 2012 so a new Acad chassis modified to suit Oz was ordered from Ken Hanna and a donor 2CV previously bought was stripped and remains of an Acad van bought from France via Jackie Light foot in Kenilworth. The result is a 4 dr cab (rear doors half size ) fitted with my now un-usable Combi trailer tent tub, re-configured in a 5ft length with a 1ft long tailboard as a sleeper module with a stainless steel tilt frame covered in lined material. Currently in Dudley having a long range lpg tank fitted and minor mechanical/electrical alterations. The Outbacker as it is known has a full roll cage, bucket seats, Dyane engine and 2CV4 gearbox. A Union flag from Matts softops form the roof and the paint scheme is Red sand to match Ayers rock.
The second is a project that will be the most expensive yet. A steel bodied 1956 Dagonet. Started mid 2013 and based on a 1964 suicide door saloon. It is currently with a specialist who will give me a perfectly restored car, one to envy I am told. So far the body is nearly finished and I deviated from a four door because it looks stunning as a lowered two door on a refurbished Citroen chassis. The engine will be a highly tuned 602 from Jamieson engines in Bristol through a recon Dyane gearbox, Ami wheels and Smart tyres. Watch this space! Any comments , letter to the Ed.
The third came about because Gary Dicks had a 50k mile Acad rotten van on 5 yr old Ken Hanna chassis that he offered to me. I bought it and took it down to Fred Moss in Shepton Mallet who removed the body and then fitted the body from a Laguna blue Dyane that has a new interior by Krych trimmers in Bristol bought as an aborted project in 2008. The stretched car will have one B pillar and stretched doors and is due in the paint shop Nov 2013 and then up to Dudley for an lpg conversion. Will be known as Hooky`s Acadyane The Toonmobile.
The fourth is again a purchase from Gary Dicks and is the ex Dick Twinney`s Floyd (the buggy with the dog box on the rear and looking rather sad). I have had the body re-shaped and grafted a re-production Jeep WW2 body on the rear. The wheels are Lohr and the front end will be Dyane. This gives the appearance similar to a military VW trekker, Bomdardier Iltis or a Mungo. Naturally it’s now Olive green. Affectionately known as the Mutt carrier Floyd that became a MUTT a Military Utility Tactical Truck the last of which was the M151 Jeep of the 70/80`s period.
The fifth is my Bijou started four years ago with an undercarriage change by Fred Moss and is languished in the paint shop for some time before it was painted a grey colour after which it was trimmed in Maroon vinyl and carpet. A long wait until the widows were installed during a recent Dagonet break. A HORRIBLEY difficult task and eventually all were fitted. I dropped one almighty clanger by having glass fitted to the front doors in the rebuilt mechanisms. They worked beautifully and looked great, except when the door was closed with a bit of a push against the rubbers and the glass deflected and cracked. Had it recut in a good industrial plastic and fitted. The car will have a change of colour as I got it wrong, it has blue in the grey and looks heavy and not petite as is the name. I will have the mechanical/electrical work done before the repaint.
Finally I purchased the 1973 Ami Super RHD car from Gary Dicks along with an Acad van with a rebuilt van body on a rusty chassis and an AK350 van remains suitable for rebuild. I also collected 3 Dyanes from various sources. A 1975 with a rear end shunt, a 300,000 mile one owner in need of a serious mechanical transplant and finally Geoff Ticehirst`s (Citroën specials editor) Dyane aborted project on a new galvanised chassis fitted with a 1300cc flat 4. (this was the grey/blue Dyane at Registers day).
Pics submitted for use with this article are of the Dagonet as is right now, as was along with The Outbacker prior to under going work at Dudley
Too many but good fun and one day available to interested parties.
Mike “Hooky” John
