Post Re: The O/T thread!
Just received an email urging me to boycott the UK's biggest fuel sellers (Esso and BP) in an attempt to get them to drop their prices, which would force others to follow suit (so the logic goes). According to the email, it's OK to buy from all other fuel vendors.

Now, I think this logic is dodgy. As I understand it, companies like BP and Esso supply supermarkets and other branded forecourts... And BP owns Grangemouth (for example) so it doesn't matter where you buy your fuel, the big fuel companies won't be hit at the point where they make most money (at the point where they sell to the refineries and forecourts).

Have I got it right, or would a boycott of BP and Esso change things?

Post Re: The O/T thread!
My car runs so much better on Esso than it does on Asda or Tesco fuel. My local esso does 3p a litre off every saturday (usually about 1.24) still horriffic but still...

Also, all Esso's are franchised, they have a minimum price, but the franchisee can charge what they please. My local chaps are really nice (and have a super cheap off licence) so i'm certainly wouldnt harm their business by boycotting them.

After all, filling my tank costs me £25 every 10-15 days - i doubt my lack of custom would be damaging

You won't make a blind bit of difference boycotting them.

Don't forget, it's Valentine's Day soon.

With this important date in mind, here's a tasteful gift suggestion:

My client tells me that it's possible to get from perfectly innocent material to the gutter in just two clicks, m'Lud. In summary, it would appear that hyperlinks can be a terrible thing for the feeble minded.
