I ended up paying £87.20 for a Book on Citroen DS like that. That was the last time I used Chapman's bid late and high method.

<cough!> "Bid high"? Ish - but not to an amount MORE THAN YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO PAY... If it goes above that amount, then you're bidding against one of those idiots. Leave him to it.

(Unless, of course, you're outing yourself as the other idiot?)

Totally agree with you, Old-Nail EXCEPT to point out (like an irritating smartarse git) that John died before X-plates came out, so he couldn't be one of the previous owners. ;)

My car is also X reg despite being made in 1978, so it is possible. I think DVLA were issuing registration based on import dates rather than date of manufacture at that time.
So my car could have been owned by Jean-Paul, George & Ringo, but I don't know why someone would want to import a D*lly.

Yeah maybe :-)

Anyway what's wrong with a shagged out x reg D*lly with a buggered chassis and knackered mechanicals for £3K, its still probably more of a bargain than some of the £11K 2CV's I've seen advertised lol

Anyone out there really owned a 2cv that once belonged to anyone famous?

Mate of mine once owned a Fiat Panda who's previous owner was Patsy Kensit!

No fibs please.

Right ..........

My/spanners/russ old sidewinder is on e-bay. Day left to run. It needs some TLC and has like 1 week MOT left. I am bidding and hope to buy, so play nice please folks (wink wink)

I've just bothered to lok at what it fetched in the end.

Holy shit!! It's a hell of a lot more than it cost me to build and a hell of a lot more than I ever managed to sell it for either. Fair play to the guy.

Anyone we know bought it?
