Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
I was thinking about this yesterday, and I reckon my Dad's spent just as much on welding over the past 10 years on his pampered, lives in garage, not used in winter (since 1990) 2cv, as he has on his lives outside and used all year round one. I can't properly confirm it, but thinking about what they've both had done, it is very close.
He is probably going to sell one of them to get a more modern car soon though, but for reasons of long-distance cruising and a desire to have something different for the first time in 30 years, rather than not wanting to use a 2cv through winter (in fact, a 2cv might remain his winter daily driver even when he's got his new car).

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
Evie is on the road all year round and gets used all year round. I do have the BX too and they both share the mileage, and they both have their specific uses (BX for towing for example) but often it is simply down to how I feel that morning as to which one gets taken for a hoon I agree that a properly set up 2cv heater is very effective - give it a couple of miles and the screen is clear and feet are getting toasty!

I don't have another car, so I use my 2CV every day, also in winter.
It also is parked outside (most of the time under a tree).

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
It's sad to say that my 2CV doesn't see winter roads much anymore - too much salt on the roads, so I let the winter hack take the abuse of the daily commute.

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
It's my only car, so it'll certainly be used through the winter. If it lasts that long. I don't believe in having "Sunday cars", and as Russ said, it's only a vehicle and there's not much point having it if you can't use it.

well im only concered abut rust at end of winter, but after spending hours browsing through Ecas, you could build a new car from the bits you can get,

I must confess that this winter I got the girlfriend to chauffeur me almost all of the time, whilst the 2CV was perfectly functional it uses more petrol.

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
and pints of blood to sell...
no i couldnt put a single dent into what it would cost
just the principle that most bits are readily availble, was my concern that at the end of the winter id end up with a rust bucket, but i wont let that happen
is wax oil easy to do yourself, and is it good, cars been wax oiled but im going to do it again before winter, or is there a better product out there than wax oil?

I've heard wurth's underseal is the best. Its sodding expensive though, I would go for scats black bitumen paint in a very thick layer instead personally.
