and can i brush on with paint brush in easy acces places? Waxoyl is best applied in warm weather, it 'creeps' better. You can either thin it down with some white spirit, or place the can in a sink of hot water - that will have the same effect, although as it cools so it thickens up again. I'm not that keen on Waxoyl tbh - it seems ok in cavities, but i don't rate it in high-impact areas such as wheel arches, etc. I much prefer the range of rust proofing products available from Bilt Hamber.

Re: nearly that time of year
James, check out your local Argos - do it on-line NOW! They might just have one their 5-piece air tool kits still available - just over £11 for the whole thing. QUICK! (It's their 'Challenge Extreme' range)
I picked up one of these yesterday - the second last one in stock. I also bought a decent paint sprayer form ebay for doing, hopefully, decent paint spraying, and one hour ago also bought a compressor - so I'm well set up! (There's a paint sprayer in the set too, but I suspect it won't be up to much.)
If you already have a compressor, then the type of 'gun' mentioned by Neil is ideal. If you don't, and don't plan to get one, then the best type of sprayer to use is an electric 'airless' type - available for around £20 or less. These work really well.
The secret is - to get the stuff to creep and travel as far as possible into gaps and seams, dilute it a reasonable amount - say, 10% - with white spirit (or, I use petrol, but, er, be careful...)
When applying it to actual surfaces such as under the wings, chassis, etc, then try it neat if possible. ALLOW IT TO DRY FOR AT LEAST A DAY OR SO BEFORE DRIVING IN WET WEATHER. If the weather is dry, then you can hit the road right away.
Add further coats as necessary - and certainly top up eroded areas every year.
I do actually rate Waxoyl, altho' I guess there will be better products. Once it dries fully, the wax layer is really pretty resistant to water erosion, and stone will tend to only penetrate the exact spot it hits - ie: it doesn't 'chip'.

Re: nearly that time of year
Thanks for that tip DA. Have just reserved Air Tool Kit at my local Argos. Already have compressor and grit blaster. Needed more gadgets.

Re: nearly that time of year
bugger, out of stock, thanks for the tip off anyway DA.
i meant to go to the tool shop today but couldnt get round to it, traffic was bad (train gates got stuck down in chichester!)
i assume you mean 90% wax oil and 10% white spirit (or petrol hehe)

Re: nearly that time of year
You could try other branches. My local had 3 in stock. I had one. Just checked they have one left. Too far away from you though.

Re: nearly that time of year
Chichester branch shows two in stock Yes, 90% Waxoyl... That's just a ballpark figure - you want it reasonably watery when spraying into seams, gaps, cavities, etc., and thicker - neat - for general undersealing. If it's too thick to spray properly, then thin as needed for general use too. Allow coats to 'dry' before applying additional ones - a day is usually enough time in mild weather. Give high-abrasion areas (eg: under wings) further coats. Check it each year and top up if necessary.
