Actually that beetle thing is true. Ive been saying to everyone who will listen for years, air cooled engine, in the back? but the airflow is at the front? Muppets!!

I had a beetle a 72 1300 it was in lovely condition, i still hated it and got my revenge by making a huge profit on it.

Basically i hate everything to do with popular modern life, fake celebrities, chavs, new cars etc. Basically id rather live in war time britain than with chav twats. Rant over.

D*lly is the trim level. Not the name of the car. Is yours called Ghia or Titanium? No.
It's not a Beetle.

A mate of mine has started to refer to Belinda as "Rommel's staff car" recently!!

the most weird remarks where the following two:

(at a 2cv tour, I was just arriving) a 2cv-driver who didn't know me: "What the hell is that???" Saskia (good friend) without looking up and actually seeing it was me: "oh that's Captain Krimson"...

Usually get 'cool car mate' comments, teenage girls wooping like they've spotted a star and little kids saying 'Hello Mr Spotty car' :D

odder comments...
A guy shouted from a ped crossing 'I could smell you coming!' (with a thumbs up...looked like he might sniff other stuff!)
'Is that a ren-alt five mate' (standing near the boot where it says what it is right under his nose!)
A lad ask me quite seriously once if I could re-map the chip for better performance!

 snap, new cars are too clever for their own good, I dont care if there an orange woman living in a house surrounded by cameras, "BrAp LooK at my corsA Yo!" shut up all it has is a pint pot exhaust, Its a pile of shit they, probably think the same about my 2cv.

Those Tatra 601s though - AIR-COOLED, REAR MOUNTED V8

how's that for logic!!!!

i've not had a bad comment yet, usually "i love your car"

but let's not forget - most people couldn't care less about old cars or even cars - you can't expect people to know the ins and outs of what is - a niche car.

Matt and Willami,
considering that the vast majority of the cooling air for a cowled engine is moved by a fan, I cannot see that there's any problem with locating such an engine at the rear of the car.
Maybe add the original Fiat 500 to the list, btw, as well as that multitude of scooters which had their engine located transversely under the rider, with the intake to the fan via the side.

Don't forget that although the air intake for an A series engine is located at the front, if your fan pulley fails, your engine is very likely to overheat and seize not too long afterwards.

Back to annoying things...
Not so much annoying as amusing (or perhaps confusing?), when looking at pictures of the recent Tan Hill run, the majority of the cars didn't have grille muffs fitted, despite the fact the temperature on the day was between 3 & 4 Centigrade.
If they are needed, which Citroen seemed to believe was the case, surely that's the sort of weather when they should be fitted. :?

ken.
