The large bell housing, could contain gears for a low range, as per Subaru Legacy, Just a mad 4x4 idea?

What 'elongated' bell housing? Surely, the only logical explanation for that has to be distortion of the image, because of the use of a very wide angle lens... Looking around on the site a bit I spotted on THIS page: GEAR BOX • Automatic (CVT). • Available manual 4 gears CVT? Maybe that explains the funny bell housing?
