Love it, looks as tidy as I'd expect from you Dave.

Thanks Russ, took it for a spin last night, just to check for leaks etc.Went well, just a small leak from the fuel pipe going into the carb, just nipped it up and it stopped.Cant get the lights to work though. Will investigate over the weekend.

Re lights

Have you got the brass tag that attaches to the fuel pump cover in place?

If you've had the frame power coated then earthing might be the issue. You can either run a return wire back to the engine mounts or file the coating back on bolt holes from the light to the engine mounts.

Hi Matt, thanks for your previous post.I have opened up the inlet and the exhaust oulet, both on the block.
The tyres came from Van de Ven Solex in Holland.
The frame is just paint.I have checked the output from the lighting coil, and I have voltage.I have also connected a battery into the circuit and the front light works, but not the rear.
I will check it out on Sunday and let you know.

Post Re: Solexes
All this talk about opening ports etc got me jealous so took mine apart today. I found that the gasket for the carb/exhaust combo was blocking a good 2mm of the top of the exhaust port. Drilled out inlet and exhaust to 8.5mm and 12mm and cut away the ofending gasket to match the port. Runs better now - I have spoken with the carb man on LeBon and he is modifying a carb for my 2200 (not for road use!!!)

Took mine for a spin down to Bai de Mont Saint Michel today and could feel the difference with the mods to the ports. Before had to run with 1/2 choke but now no choke and pulls better and no 4 stroking on the down slopes - must be more than 4000 rpm. Much better overall - HAPPY :)
Its a SOLEX Jim but not as we know it!! (or something like that)

So what sort of speed are you doing? Have you fitted the new carb?

No running with normal carb. Do not know if need new carb as much better than before. As for speed not sure - no speedo but before on flat and slight down hill bike would 4 stroke and restrict speed, now pulls onwards and speed much quicker - maybe 40 - 50kms/ hour (on slight down hills). Maybe buy a bicycle speedo and see but it would spoil the old look...
