Put a secondhand cross box on it, then had a stab at fixing the D*lly.

F*&k me.... that was a very enjoyable day but the most stressful I have ever had.

Will put some more meat to the bones later but drove him 147 Km and over 2,020m of climbing including the Col d'Aspin. I nearly made it but for a shitty Dynamo which discharged my battery, so got towed the last 1 km of the climb by a friendly HY Van. Other than that it went pretty well for the longest ever journey in this little 425cc beast.

Look forward to hearing the rest of the tale.

Nothing so exciting for me. Fitted sun visors and rear view mirror from a cinquento to Albert l'Acadiane

Managed to get it going (it's been sitting idle for the last month or so) after several minutes of starter-motor abuse, Fawlty-esque threats, rants and petrol-in-carburettor attempts to coax it out of its slumbers. Then took the front wings off and went for a naked fronted hoon around some off road lanes. Very messy. Cleaned it, then tried to get the crossbox to marry up to the engine and swans neck, so that the car didn't sound so bloody ballsy. Finally succeeded. Sort of.

Declaring the car SORN at the end of the month, so that I can strip it down and repair the rear end bodywork. 4 years of daily use, parked outside, without any tlc has finally caught up with it, so it's time I gave it the care that it deserves.

Temp repair on the colander I mean my roof, which had not leaked in France despite some horrendous storms, but on getting back to UK being a lot colder the already shrunk vinyl has started to split bugger! So lined the roof with a piece of breathable membrane, left over from having the roof replaced on our French house.Need to order the boat cover material to make my new one post haste. At least I'll have a nice new burgundy roof :-)

Not a bad day up here and has been a nice few days. Currently out in the 2CV enjoying a day off. Since binning the previous pair of spark plugs last week with an old set the car has been starting much easier and much, much quicker. The starter motor is definitely on its way out though, it's very noisy and rough!! Don't think it's going to last much longer. Wonder how much delivery to Shetland will cost from ECAS.

Used the shed to move firstly a double mattress then a knocked down double pine bed and surprisingly got all inside with the doors shut as we move Scoobasteve into the house we bought....unfortunately MOT looms large at the end of the month so I hope Richard Daltons man will be kind.

Drove him again tonight - I might even start using him as a daily runner at this rate.
