Camped in it (the van this time) like a gypo on Brighton seafront as I was clubbling last night. While drunken friends fannied around with night busses I collapsed into my comfy double bed with the sound of the waves on the beach.

I was awoken rudely by MANY flat 4s as it was some VW Camper convention in Brighton today.

Smug. :)

Fixing jammed steering lock by 2steamhorses(Bob), on Flickr

Went and rescued a friends 2cv with the age old problem with a jammed steering/ignition lock. Th lock being engaged prevented the car being hot wired to get her home.So after grinding off the two small rivets on the plate fixed to the side of the lock body. This allowed the plate to be removed along with the spring that pushing the steering lock into the locked position. Once that was out/off the actual lokc pawl could be pulled back and disengaged. The lock collar on the steering column was taken off, to prevent it locking again. The ignition lock was jammed solid so a quick hot wire and off we went.

New condenser fitted and it started first pull. Toddled off to the bank and got a lot of waves.

Going on a retro car club rally on Sunday. To the top of the Col d'Aspin and back. Will soon see if this is a Category 1 or 2 climb as my little gear box will let me know.

Use mine most days. This week I have been taking my mates girlfriend to visit him in hospital. He has an MX5 Roadster. She has not complained, but you can sense that somehow, it just does not seem the same sort of experience. :)

I have both and, while they're not quite the same experience, if I was forced to choose which one I could keep, the 2CV would win every time.
