Took it for an MOT. The car's run perfectly for months, but approximately 30 seconds into the emissions test, the float valve decided to stick, flooding the carburettor, and sending the HC and CO readings through the roof! A quick tap with the corrosion assessment hammer and all was well again. A comfortable pass, otherwise. :)

Fitted a non return valve last week and the 2CV is still a nightmare to cold start and today it was a struggle to hot start it too!! So out of desperation I've just bunged another coil on it. The original one had corrosion on both HT contacts so let's see what, if any, difference another coil makes.

Oh... And today is reached 230,000 miles.

I've not been out in my 2CV in over a week (though I try and start it on a daily basis) so today I decided to use it for work.

First fail - No petrol - Went to petrol station, it splashed back on me :?

Second fail - Decided to take it to the "local car wash", as it had petrol on the rear wing. The car wash also gave me a wash, as the water came thru the door windows   So I turned up to work smelling of petrol, and suds.

At least the car is full of fuel, looking super clean and ready to go. Whereas I, on the other hand.............

Other coil seem to have made for better cold starting, but at the expense of hot starting. :-( time for a new coil.

I'd recommend a Yellow one from Ecas.
