Very good painting there o-n but for me too detailed for a painting, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work that's gone into it, but it just looks like a photo,

Another painter that I admire is New York artist Miro Sinovcic. If you like your paintings a little less detailed then this is the guy for you. Miro paints in patches of pure colour, making his finished work look as it perhaps would if your eyes were watering, but with fabulous radiant colour.

I've asked Miro to do a NY street scene but based on the NY of the late 1940's, so instead of all the modern vehicles there would be those big old curvy cars and retro neon ads. He tells me It's something he may consider, I really hope he does!

Miro's blog is here. http://nyframeofmind.blogspot.com/

I had to be mate, I was a gym instructor/personal trainer by day, Doorman by night. I didn't attract a certain type of woman...I attracted all of them. 8-) (My modesty knows no bounds)

Seriously though, the fitness and strength training was essential, I was one of a small group of experienced doormen that got sent to all the trouble spots. We were paid more for the job than other doormen which sometimes rankled them, but it was because we knew how to get it done.

That pic was 2003, you wouldn't think that six months before that was taken I had had major surgery to remove a kidney after renal failure. :? To train every day a body needs one gramme of protein per pound of lean bodyweight, and as I was 220lb with around 10% body fat that meant that I needed to consume around 198 grammes of protein a day to maintain my size. When you think that one chicken breast contains just 25 grammes you can imagine the amount of food needed daily.

After the kidney op they found that my second one was dodgy, and it couldn't cope with the protein intake, it wasn't able to process it, and protein was 'leaking' into my bloodstream. I carried on though, until in January 2005 when my Doorman's license was withdrawn because I had a previous criminal conviction. I appealed against that, offering the supporting evidence of testimonials from Bar and nightclub owners across the region, in the seven years since I'd come out of prison there had been no adverse reports against me, in fact the organisations that I had worked for headhunted me off each other.

It made no difference and the decision stood, thus making me pay with my livlihood for a second time for the same offence. It was a nonsensical decision by the SIA, especially as at the time I was working with an Italian fella who was on the run from Italy for murder, but his criminal check came back clear (as they only check the UK records) and he got his license!

In 2005 I met my current wife who is a far better woman than I deserve, I quit the doors, moved out of town and away from my former circle of friends, and grew relatively fat and lazy.

As a footnote the SIA (Security Industies Authority) has just been disbanded by the current government as it was discovered that they had wrongly issued 7000 licenses to foreign criminals and illegal immigrants! ;)
