Thanks, Smiffy - that's the one! Wonderful sound from that ol' Gibson.

I have to say I do like my rock 'n roll/blues to be quite melodic. Robert Johnson et al might be the archetypes - and I'm hugely grateful for what they've done - but I don't tend to put them on for a listen :( Much rather what Peter Green's FM, Cream and - most of all - JJ Cale have done with the blooooos.

It's great. It got nominated for an Oscar (early 90s I think.)

Here's something else: Argentinian garage-punk reworking of an old R&R classic, renamed Brand New 3CV, with visuals swiped from the car-chase scene in Belleville Rendezvous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i57o2FqaEj4
Works quite well, imho.

There's some real interesting stuff out there for sure, I liked that one as it was very atmospheric with the lights of the 2cv's switched on. My you tube bookmarks folder is growing.

Yes, you have to be especially careful in today's globalised marketplace: http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&ex ... 80&bih=933

My personal fave is the fact that there are drivers of Mitsubishi SUVs driving around with the Spanish slang for "w*nk*r" (Pajero) emblazoned across the back of their vehicles!

I see what you mean. That sounds appetising.
I didn't know about that Pajero thing, that'll make the Mrs. smile - her ex husband drives one.

Feedback required please. :D

I was up 'till very late last night working on this book I'm putting together when I had an idea, and I'd like to hear what others think of it - good or bad?

I find that when reading my concentration wanders, especially when wading through long chapters. I much prefer shorter chapters that also conclude before moving onto the next one, sort of like an anecdote that has been told, and then the story moves forward. The advantage of that is that the reader can put the book down conveniently between chapters rather than in the middle of one.

Also there will be no photographs in this book, (mainly because myself and the others involved spent most of our lives avoiding appearing in them) and a book without visual content is apt to become very dry. So last night I came upon the idea of illustrating the beginning of each chapter with a painting done from memory, would that work do you think?

For example I could use the opposite leaf to the chapter heading page to display the painting which would contain a scene representational of the tale about to be told, as seen through my eyes so to speak. Would that work? Would it make the book more interesting for the reader to be able to be see via such paintings in addition to the text, those glimpses into a world that many will never encounter?

Or should I stick to simple written representation with perhaps just a couple of painted scenes in the middle? Which format would appeal more to you as a potential reader?
