As Sam correctly pointed out, in the logo of 2cvgb its 2cvGB not 2CVGB, but it seems that no one has ever taken any notice before, subsequently its never been a problem until randomly it is when its not 2CVGB on the mag
does it matter?

I *loved* that article! Seeing it written lower case has always irritated the tits off me 'cos it just looks WRONG. And a random bit of graphic design from who knows when/where – that has nowt to do with Citroën, anyway – should not be deemed the final arbiter of how it should be written, IMHO! ;)

You're quite right, though; it's totally not worth getting upset about (but I get paid to get upset about that sort of thing, and am a natural pedant/grammar Nazi). Mark's article was great because although he started out with the same fixed view as me, his historical foragings unearthed some lovely old advert artwork, and through the course of his musings, manged to challenge his own preconceptions and answered the question that's been bugging some of us for ages - there is NO right or wrong. So people like me get to climb down off our high (two) horses. Take it in the spirit in which it was written - a lighthearted excuse for a mender through the history of 2CV advertising - not a whingeing rant.

Loving the spoof letters, Sam - great to have some silliness back in the mag. Even more great to read the confused posts over in The Other Place (and Uncle Ken's brilliantly understated visual responses).

Enjoyed your Spa write-up as well, Russel(l), and Em's Hallow'een Camp one, and even enjoyed reading about Louis' 4x4 - a car I've been aware of since it's legendary original owner.

Finally - and this is honestly not intended as a veiled criticism; merely a wry observation from someone with a foot in both camps - it is tickling me that all those who were so bored with 'Kermit's Adventures in Burgundy' seem to be coming up with very much the same sort of 'My drinking tour of Europe/UK in an A-Series' type article in the first two issues. Don't really know how anyone can make event/travel write-ups very individual, as they all amount to 'drove somewhere, pitched up, got pissed, did a convoy with a hangover, got pissed again, chilled out with mates, went home' type of narrative. In the good old days there was lots of gossip to educate and inform those of us that couldn't make it... but I guess that's when people start feeling it's too cliquey. Perhaps it just goes to show that we're all pretty much the same deep down - just to different degrees of car polishing, Sunday driving vs. hoonage, and blood alcohol content.

*Stands back and awaits a Straw Hat Rebellion against all this Yoof-oriented content*

Oh, and speaking of which, it also amused me greatly that in the header for the Yoof page, 2 out of the 3 people in the picture are over 40. Is this proof that 2CVing keeps you young?!

[Oh, Lordy! She's written another essay... Sorry everyone! ]

That was deliberate - Yoofemism is a philosophy not a demographic ;)

What I'm trying to get a balance between, "kermit went to Normandy" , "drove here, got pissed" and actual car related articles, I think it's working quite well. Spa and L'aigle worked well together as 2 completely different events, then full on with the car stuff.

Ideally I'd like at least one local group event and one travel type report a month.

Cheers for the feedback :)I too thought Mark's article was a good un, i hope it inspires some mass debate.

Has the dog been rehomed yet? It's not mine, but I feel kind of responsible. How will it get on with next door's chickens?

And I can't believe I'm actually typing this, but as for 2cv or 2cv, I would say that, notwithstanding the fact the '2' is larger, the 2cv in the 2CV CROSS logo is actually upper case. The 'C' in 2CV is the only thing to go on, but it is identical in size and shape to the 'C' in CROSS which, judging by the 'R', is also all in upper case....

Just noticed: if you type a c followed by a v without a space on this forum, regardless of whether they're upper or lower case = typographical fascism!

I'd have thought it would be upper case as 2cv is the old French fiscal (tax) rating and the C is for Cheval (Horse) and V is for Vapeur (Steam) not Che(v)aux. So 2CV actually stands for 2 Steam Horse but the French are just as prone as us Brits in shortening/contracting words, so they call the car Deux Chevaux, but officially it's Deux Cheval Vapeur. :geek:

At the end of the day, who cares? It could be worse, at least it's not a VW, Vw,vw

Maybe we should take a lead from the French clubs, who seem to use both upper and lower case and 'space or no space', as they feel?

Just as long as it's not C V, C V 2, c v 6, etc.
