Yes it is, by corporate big business, which is equally unacceptable. I wouldn't wish to replace one dictator with another would you?

Anyway I shouldn't mention politics, but it's hard for me because I was politicised at an early age. Every Saturday morning, back when I was around five or six years old I would be dropped off at my grandma's while my mother went into town shopping.

I remember one day my grandma was shouting me, and as I ran outside to her she said to me;

"Young-Nail, remember this. If a man under the age of 30 is not a liberal, then he has no heart. But if a man over the age of 30 is still a liberal, then he has no brains."

I looked up at her, tears welling in my big blue child-like eyes and said;

"I'll remember that grandma I promise....Now will you please put all your clothes back on and come down from the roof?" :P

:lol: :lol: :lol:

I need to stop pissing about and get on with the plastering I am supposed to be doing today. I will leave politics for another day.

It's a bugger to weld, and it doesn't bend.

Post Re: The O/T thread!
I've copy/pasted my thoughts on glass from my facebook page. I'm not typing it again.

Why glass is stupid and the glass industry is useless:

Glass has been around for 5000 years or so, that's a long time. Long enough for those involved in the manufacture and development to make the stuff usefull. Glass is easy to break. Inste...ad of the industry looking into ways of making it break safely, which they have spent the last 100 years doing, why didn't they get their fucking acts together and stop the stuff breaking in the first place? Why should I be nervous about carrying or dropping it because for 5000 years the industry can't be arsed to improve the product to a level whereby it's actually a practical material?

I work with steel. Steel can be bent, formed, seamlessly joined, dropped, cut easily and worked with by rank amateurs to a good finish. It doesn't need to be 'sent away' by a glass specialist to have a fucking sharp edge removed. Also, ask me to cut a circle of steel, and It will take me 15 minutes from start to finish. Not the best part of a week like the bit of glass I have bought. 5000 years is quite long enough to have bought the price down too. £50 for a shitty bit of glass 440mm dia is a con. A massive con. And to take a week to cut it out? The glass industry is run by and seemingly has always been run by a bunch of lazy shysters who are content to rip off and scam the public with overpriced and poorly developed product.

your argument is flawed young jedi

glass is a wonderfull stuff some of the technical properties are astounding

was in a house made of the stuff just yesterday well it was more of an extension

you can weld it with simple propane flame

it is one of the fiew homogenious solids and as such defied catagorization for years and is still erroniously described as a liquid and crap science trotted out to prove it.

and its made from sand

steel ! pah try getting a rsj cut bolt flanges welded with a 6mm fillet and delivered and ill cut you a circle, grind the edge with a diamond hone in an hour

involve any specialist and the cost and time goes upwards

think shit and then see what the local plumbers gaff looks like :lol:

now on the moan front:-
Argoshield light...is it fuck
slipped my back lifting the bottle out the shed
off my face on co proxamol and red wine hooked up to a tens machine

no work for a couple of days now

Sean

It hurts my ribs when other people walk into glass doors thinking they're open. Especially when the "victim" is my mother!

I'm such a bad son. :lol:

my beloved constant f2.8 18-55mm sigma lens that I use on my sony alpha will fit (with limited function).

If it's a 35mm SLR you want then go for a Nikon FM2, or FM2N. Fantastic camera, and tougher than tough. Brilliant design, with intuitive metering controls. You'll be able to use it with a lens converter for your Sigma.

Anyway, enough from me on cameras.
