Re: The O/T thread! There's something distinctly 'wrong' in eating stuff that grows in the most disgusting places I feel. When I eat mushrooms I can still taste the rotting wood and damp atmosphere of their origin. Re: The O/T thread! Its mushroom season here and the conditions are perfect [I'm told]. Its not uncommon while driving down a country lane following another car for it to screech to a halt as the driver has spotted mushrooms.
Have to say I love them. Garlic mushrooms are just perfect on toast. MMMM

Viking here in the north west of England there used to be two things...no three things that were the staple diet of our grandparents time. 1 Tripe (Cows stomach lining) 2 Pigs trotters (feet) 3 Black pudding. (congealed blood and fat inside a sheep's intestine.) The French just add more seasoning.
