Jonathan's going to be on a remote island with a population of 700. It's safe to say that the community is already going to be fairly self-sufficient. Hell, even on the mainland, it's hard to find a farmer that can't weld and won't get stuck in to most sparky/plumbing jobs themselves...

Heyho, the jobs market looks fairly buoyant.

Blimey, they're even looking for lorry drivers ... I wonder if my other half would move to Scotland?

Hmmm - my right brake seized up on me on the way home from toulouse today (in the 4L). What would normally cause this - They are brand new - did I adjust it to tightly :?:

I did 120 km at around 100 kph before it slowed me to a stop (pretty scary with smoke and melting paint on my rim)

Took it for an MOT, which it failed on rust in the toeboard. No other problems though, which I was actually quite pleased about.

It's all fine and dandy lads, I can't wait to move up permanently and get stuck in to life on the most northerly outpost of the British Isles :D Yesterday was the windiest yet, I found the 2CV badly struggled to get up to 40mph and generally rattled along at around 35mph. I understand now how bad a Shetland wind is, and yesterday was nothing unusual! In a proper Shetland gale I can't see me using the 2CV, I won't get anywhere.
