Hi Louise,
when that started happening with some of your posts here or elsewhere, I did wonder if an imposter had hijacked your account. :?

ken.
p.s. Can't let my grumpiness quotient slip, so 'practice' or 'practise' ? ;)

This is one I sometimes struggle with. I know it's like "advice" and "advise", so I presume it should be "practise" in this case. But I can't say that with any certainty. :)

I once read of a Swedish woman that committed suicide after running out of toilet paper. She left a note saying "No toilet paper, that really is the last straw!" I've often wondered why she didn't use the paper she had written on as an emergency measure. :?

I mention this because I have just been wrapping something in cling film. When did ithat stuffchange to become 'I can't be arsed to cling' film? As I've also been drinking rather heavily these last few nights I think the excess alcohol may have negated my medication, the so called 'chemical cosh' that I take to keep me civil. And like the toilet paper, a sign was that the useless cling film annoyed me much much more than it had any right to.

So I'm going to drop off the radar for a few days I think, let myself mend before I become increasingly grumpy and agitated and thus inflict you lot with such posts.

Bye for now.

I wouldn't worry about it. I for one feed on grumpiness, a bit like Thatcher feeds on misery.

In most cases, it's not dyslexia, of that I'm pretty sure. Granted, there will be some genuinely dyslexic people on the internet, but most people think "oh, they can see what I mean and it's just too much effort to write it properly". Well, here's a thought ... it's also a bit too much effort to read it, and why should I put the effort in if you can't be bothered?
I must be getting old, although I've always been a bit anal where language is concerned. :)

grumpy old man syndrome ;)

Louise ive been tested and tested (too many times, ) and each time theyve said the same things, i find i spell things how they sound, and get confused!!
my biggest downfall into the problems, is i developed difficulties in year 7 at school. it took the school 3 years, oh wait no it didnt, my mum had to have me privatly tested by a child phsycologist, because my school wouldnt pull there finger out, they shoved all the "retards" into one corner and forget about them, sort of like, a sin bin, and i was a full pledged member of this sin bin, i got fuck all from the school. i needed a laptop for my work as i cant actually read my writing, so what did the school say? well credit to them, they gave me one! then 2 weeks later told me they couldnt afford to buy one, so they took it back and once again, my mum had to step in to sort this situation out. now if my mum hadnt of had me tested, 3 years after i started developing problems (well i say i started in year 7, my years 6 teacher picked it up,) who knows where i would of been. after 3 years of stuggling, i finally had learning supprot lessons, where theyd sit me down and attempt to help me, i was a bit of a twat though and messed around, only occasionally though, so i regret that, but thats life y'know!
in my year 6 sats tests, i got level 4 in english, not bad at that age, it was a high level 4 too, so pleased with that. so i do my year 9 sats, what did i get? low level 4. my english had decreased in its ability, why? as mentioned ealier, because i was left to one side. being refused help.
Looking at my family, (sorry going off on a tangent) i have 1 older bro, 1 older sis and 1 younger bro (as well as step bro's and what not) but sticking with generic relly's, my oldest brother is dyslexic. his writing is awful also, he had a laptop also, and is so much like me, its not true! scary! my sister, is also dyslexic, this wasnt picked up until after 6 form and she was at uni, she had never made a fuss until being "labelled" dyslexic, which sort of is redicuolus if you ask me, my younger brother is yet to be tested, as he isnt struggeling with work like me and my brother. My uncle is also heavily heavily autistic, he lives in a autisim home, he is remarkable, things he can do, there are some amazing people in that home, its brilliant! but thats where the autistic jean in my family came from!
so where is this post taking you, the reader?
im trying not to be considered one of those "labbeled" kids, or use dyslexia as a excuse for my lack of ability to spell read or write to well, however my spelling is getting remarkably better, as is my grammer, i think i have Old Nail to blame for this, as i always read the posts in the old blue bamboo post, as his writing is poetic and amazing! and im currently doing an GCSE english re take, english shall be improving. so why am i re taking english???
well i once again, got put in the corner by school, into the "retard" group, where we all where not quite with it, so we all where heading for failure i geuss, didnt help they gave us the teacher who couldnt control a bunch of 5 year olds or teach them for that fact. i got accused of plajarism, because i wrote a piece of coursework graded at grade B, and i was told i couldnt of written it, that i wasnt clever enough, to make it more "stupid" by my english teacher and head of house, so i told my mum, and she went ape at the school, and i will never forget being sent to the head of house's office, and he had a massive go at me, for telling my mum what he had said, and at the end, he went, "oh just go home, dont bother coming back" what an arse hole!!
i could keep telling you about my failed education, being let down by the state system, bud i have so much to tell, your probably nodding off!

if you want to hear more, then ask ;)

Thanks James, I'll add that my post wasn't directed at you, I'm not questioning any individual claim of being dyslexic, I've just seen mentioned it a lot online, maybe that's because the internet exposes us to a wider number and range of people and their writing :?:

Well since you offered...

With the above quote as an example... when you write about yourself do you write "i" rather than "I" because you don't recognise it needs a capital, or is it because you are rushing?

I don't know why but I always get the impression from your posts that you are rushing them, I'd imagine that might be because I have no idea how to identify a dyslexic "style" as it were, so that's just the way it come across to me. Even where you spell words wrong it seem to be the mis-spelling involves keys next to each other on the keyboard. I've often wondered, is this because you got the word wrong due to your dyslexia, or is it because you are rushing, you hit two keys at once and the dyslexia makes it hard for you to spot the error?

I hope I haven't gone too far, I'm not getting at you* I'm just interested.

* unless you are just writing "i" because you can't be arsed with the capital letter!!! ;)

Anyway... pobody's Nerfect.

Post Re: The O/T thread!
i know the post wasnt aimed at me, so dw ;)
I write i not I just because I do, I do it mostly because im used to using word, for school, which has auto correct feature in it as im sure you are aware, so I just type away and forget to check, so I dont realise, and realistly im impatient, so tend to rush everything as time goes far too quick for my liking!!!

right im off out, when i get back in about half an hour, i will give you a selection of stories to choose from, there all the type of thing, you sort of had to be there, but ill do my best to put you in the picture correctly..

 Actually, that reason hadn't crossed my mind at all. I suppose it's a symptom of the modern world relying on technology. How many times have you argued with your maths teacher about "the point of long division" because after all... everyone has a calculator! The answer always was "because if you work it out for yourself, even roughly, you can then check your answer with the calculator... and make sure you haven't hit the wrong button".

So for you the "i" thing is (a bad ;) ) habit. Now I know, I'll shut up about it!

Thank you for not being touchy about all this James, you've answered a lot of things I'd wondered about. :)
