Here is my 1961 S2200 - I bought it as a 50th birhday present for myself last year. It was made in the same year I was born. Its had some work done but most is original (not perfect but OK). I use it to go down to the coffee shop when the weather is good or down to the Bay de Mont Saint Michel. The only small problem with it (and I have seen the same on Solex forums) is to get it to run right I need the choke half way sometimes.
Like the Dyane it makes people smile.....

I was talking to a guy a guy last week about his Solex, he'd done a lot of work and was only to happy to show me around it. I'm pretty sure he said the adjustable main jet he'd made was to cure this.

bought mine for 500€, without registration, which cost me 150€, so 650€ in total for a legal solex..
they normally go here around 700-800€, with thanks so the solex rental guys.. few years ago they where a lot cheaper.

some in a really mint conditin tend to sell for prices over 1000€ and up

You can still pick them up in France for a couple of hundred euros, but they're getting more expensve out there too.

Dyane6, having to use half choke is a symptom of insufficient fuel, best to check the following,
1. Remove jet (9mm spanner) and blow it out with some carby-clean or air.
2. Replace fuel pump diaphram and give pump a blow out and check the filter in the front of the pump, may need a clean.
3. Buy an adjustable jet, this also overcomes 4 stroking at high revs.
Sometimes they just need a good long run to clear out carbon deposits and other crap.
As for price, plenty in France and Germany for around 300e, just google eBay/Solex.fr about 3000 parts and bikes on this site.
cheers from down under,
Geoff

He did say that they were available commercially for about £30 I think, but being a machinist he preferred to make his own. I'll see if I can find out more if you can't find anything on Solex parts sites.
