Bloody hell! I have leaky Lip, so I was about to order a set.

Anyone know how to repair them? If so, could you share your knowledge?

I've got one of those but t' due to my age

But on a serious note,if the seal on the damper rod is leaking I doubt you can repair or replace it. :( A few posts back there's a suggestion that you can refill the damper with engine oil. This would makes the damping effect stiffer but you have to question why the failed in the first place. If the oil had been blown out of a duff seal the new oil would go the same way, whereas if the internal shuttle valve has failed then the movement of the oil/fluid would either be unhindered and no damping, or if the valve has jammed shut the hydraulic lock will jam the shock solid, in either an extended or compressed position, not a good situation.

You should all keep quiet about this. Roy will put up the price on his remaining stock!

Just checked ECAS website. Listing only Monroes. They did have Lipmesas at Harrogate.

We have access to some LIP stock from somebody else but very expensive.

What is the problem with Monroe considering the supply fitment for most vehicles world wide? This includes new vehicles,so on that basis any vehicle presented for test in Belgium will fail, that surely can't be the case

AIUI, that's precisely the problem. Monroe sell dampers that fit. They're not, however, designed for the unusual orientation on 2cvs, so don't work properly.

The words "bounce like a clown car" have been used in the past.

Oh, and whilst we're on the subject... who needs a laugh?

At £125 for four, what d'you reckon the chances of getting four Lips are?

I'm almost tempted to hold my nose and order a set from them, just to see what actually arrives...

Going back to the actual disappearance of Lipmesa, FWIW, this is the business failure in question...

They are fine when fitted the right way around, that means front/back as well as up/down, there's a point on them which is supposed to be the lowest spot on a shock and they don;t work right when rotated about the cylinder axis.

I think that the only problem with Monroe is fitting them incorrect will see them fail.
However 2 out of 4 new fitted on my raid van didn't last to the end of the raid. Some 10.000 clicks and fitted the right way. I'm sure that street cars will have no issues (if fitted right) Anyway, we have little touch at the moment (until somebody get their tooling and begin producing LIP under another name)
