Bon Courage, Will Everything's fixable, no matter how bad you think it is tonight. And it doesn't always follow that insurers "write off" a vehicle because the repairs are complex or expensive.
There's a nice bonnet on leboncoin for 20 Euros, and I am sure with a bit of effort, the things you need can be found and brought to Bristol.

Thanks Everyone , I'll have a look on leboncoin and ebay, though really that's what a repair shop should be doing - guess I'll have to work with them to source the panels. The bonnets proper stoved in, with an awkward crumple in the front. Front panel with all it's chromed bits in bad too, bumper could be twisted out but overriders and the rubbers are all split and twisted. Wing could be straightened and inner wing too. If they did write it off, what's teh score with buying it back off them? Thanks again folks.....shit happens Will

Re: HELP! Ami 6 crashed into - front stuffed in
You should be able to buy the salvage back but my advice is to not let them have the car at all. It's proper shit when it's not your fault but the best thing to do if theres any inkling they want to write the car off is to drop any claim and fix it yourself. I wouldn't let an insurance company take any of my cars if I crashed them, regardless of how bad they were. It hurts if it isn't your fault, but it's usually worth ignoring the insurance side of things and fixing it yourself. When I stacked my birds Peugeot and Sams ak350 at the same time, claiming from the insurers would have left me out of pocket in the long run and still unable to replace the car. When my 2cv was smashed up a few years ago, which like you wasn't my fault, I had the car repaired and back on the road before the insurers had paid out, and the cheeky twats still wanted an increased premium the next year. It took them 18 months to pay out and the local 2cv 'specialist' in Kent, who by all accounts is a shambling cowboy con artist, tried to convince me to le them write it off and let him buy the salvage off of me for spares. It's a bloody minefield and whilst I insure my cars to obey the law I am hugely unlikely to claim because it usually results in the perfectly repairable car being written off or having to be inspected by vosa, your insurance going up and a massive wrangle to get your money out of them.
Don't panic, parts arent hard to come by and I'm pretty sure if you get in touch with those suggested here and the 2cv clubs ami registrar you'll find the parts you need without too much drama. I know how after somebody buggers your car up emotions run high, but I'm pretty sure that can be fixed. I'll have a rummage in the barn for some wings, I'm sure we *had* some. They're yours if we do.

Will, here's a starter for you, 'Fred' in Brittany is breaking an Ami 6 by the looks of this advert, with front bumper, front valance, etc. at 20 Euros each... < http://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto ... tm?ca=17_s > Might be worth borrowing a car and having a trip over the Channel? ken
