 Re: Right names please
Doesn't where you keep your car prevent you from obtaining many of the cheaper policies? Most classic type policies insist on overnight garaging which isn't always possible.

Sorry, should have said - the Locktons/Saab renewal price above is for parked-on-road, whilst the Acad used to be on a Taylor classic policy with it parked outside. There's two other big problems that Rebel's going to hit with going for a classic policy. First is that he's young. Most classic policies don't like <25yos, IIRC. Second is that it's a van in daily use. That seems to be a fatal combo. We could have occasional commuting on 2cvs, no prob, but on the Acad? BIG prob. I think they start to assume you're using it _as_ a van.

Yep .....well spotted Mr Nail [my reply now edited as such]. I guess fitting an alarm/imobiliser might reduce your premium too.

 Re: Right names please
Never had a prob with on road parking, it does prevent you using some of the online quote sites, but you might get more options speaking to a real person, so I say phone around.

One point to bear in mind is that if you use the online bucket shop insurance sites - GoCompare, Confused.com, and so on - they hammer your credit rating. Every search for insurance counts as a loan refused, or something. We very nearly couldn't get a mortgage 18 months ago because I'd been looking for insurance.

That's a rum way of doing things isn't it? The fat opera singer doesn't mention that when he's sand dancing.

I'd be very surprised at that - a quick google doesn't show anything. I'd have thought Martyn Wossisface and similar websites would be all over it.

I can't see how refusing to buy something you have been offered is going to impact your credit status.

 Re: Right names please
I have fitted a few extras to stop people flicking the ignition switch and hitting the start button, and yes your quite right me telling them to poke their policy did result in it being stopped, maybe my anger has screwed me over?! Trouble with gocompare etc is mine an import and most companies don't have it in their system so I don't get a quote. I struggled before as I'm under 25, drive a van and it's over 25 years old. Mind you I could try van insurance... Any one use that?
