People often get cars names wrong such as ROBIN RELIANT and when you say Reliant Robin, they still keep on saying it wrong. Mind you we do say E-TYPE JAG and MANX NORTON rather than Jaguar E-Type or Norton Manx.

Yes its odd isn't it. 10 years ago driving the 2CV I'd get the micky taken yet recently that changed to "Cool Car mate".

The 2CV attracting vandalism initially prompted my change to Ami's and local kids seem to leave them alone. I think its the razor sharp elements that lead to fingerloss that have something to do with it.

i get the lawnmower engine remark all the time, and my boss used to constantly call it a "D*lly car" although once he'd been out in it for a few trips he started to like it more, and also remembered the name 2cv!

one of the girls who came into the pub alot (friend of the bosses) didnt like her at all, said she was a deathtrap, anything french is a deathtrap, kept telling me to get a normal car.... wasnt untill the night lily was used for taking her pregnant girlfriend to the hospital as we thought she was in early labour (branston hicks though) so Ali fell in love instantly!

then theres the guy from the local scrappy, we get on well and hes always joking about the car "Vegetarians car", "Great in the snow, just take the bonnet off and turn it upside down" and then hes ALWAYS telling me the same story about an Australian who came to the scrappy and took a 2cv engine back to Australia in his hand luggage!

- I used to own one years ago. It was the one with the shift-knop on the dash..
- From what year is it? 1986.. No way! Thought it was from the fifties of sixties...

And on and on and on..
I almost can say the answers before people ask the questions

Taking a 2cv across the states after the Amherst ICCCR a few years ago, we were checking in to a hotel in Amarillo (no, we didn't need to ask!), Texas, and overheard some people discussing the car...

They finally came to the conclusion it was a Bugatti.
